Notre Dame (football only discussion)

They'll still squeeze into the playoffs. Schedule is a joke now outside of USC.

Notre Dame is 0-2; one more loss and they are probably eliminated from the CFPs. No 3 loss team has ever gotten into the CFPs. Here's where being an independent gives them a big advantage. The highest ranked team they have remaining on their schedule is #25 USC at home. They could very easily run the table and still get in with 2 losses. Being an independent they don't play in a conference championship game; which would be presumably against a tougher opponent and possibility resulting in another loss.

Notre Shame manages to stay in the Top 25. First time in nearly 40 years a winless team has appeared in the AP Top 25.
Of course. And they will move up 2 or 3 spots after each game as they beat the sisters of the poor every week.

That's probably factually correct, but it shouldn't mean a damn thing.
Agreed.
Where did I hear it? I guess this is the first time a team has faced 6 top 25 teams in 6 consecutive games. Indiana, Georgia, Penn State, Ohio State to end 2024, and Miami and aTm this year. I thought SEC teams played top 10 teams every week?
If the cheaters were top 25 last year, Ohio State would have done it 7 consecutive games: Indiana, cheaters, Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, Notre Dame, Texas.
Anyway, I don't say this to excuse Notre Dame. If you want to be the best, you need to win your games.
I don't know what Finebaum's take on Notre Dame is, but will he be as critical of them if they go 10-2 as he was of Indiana last year? Indiana played 1 ranked team last year and lost. Notre Dame plays 2-3 ranked teams this year, from what I hear.
