Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

I have a simple question for the Domers.

What game do you consider the defining win of the Charlie Weiss era?
Charlie Weis hasn't had a defining win, the comeback at Michigan State would be the closest thing. Yes, they meltdown as they always do after that game, but if you've ever played, and you were getting your ass handed to you as we were in that game, you know how tough it is to get your team back into the right frame of mind.
On the other hand, the man has just coached over a season and a half, it really hasn't been an "era" yet. If hes still coaching down the road, we'll see then. I think its interesting that all the Ty Willingham lovers were bitching at the beginning of the season that Ty went 9-3 his first season, and the University still fired him two years later, while Weis got a raise. While the raise was premature, the Willingham lovers have shut up since as Weis has already outdone Willingham's 2nd season and still has 2 cupcakes to play.

Here's an opinion. This is just as another poster, not as a moderator.

I probably spend as much time watching, analyzing, and discussing college football as 95% of the posters on this site. I'm not saying that makes me some expert, I'm just stating it to point out how much time I spend that relates to college football.

I spend a ton of time on football, but I can't imagine why I would ever want to go to another team's fan site, and repeatedly argue with them about how great the football history of my favorite team is, or how difficult their schedule is, or defend the aspersions the other fans make toward my team's head coach. I realize that it would be a losing battle and a waste of time, since I wouldn't be able to change the minds of those on another site.

But I understand people are different.

(and by win I mean actually score more points than the opponents after the final gun sounds. Not win in the "we would have won if..." sense of the word.)
Made this post in the official Weis thread, seems relevent here as well...

Just for a little perspective here, this is a list of Charlie's quality wins after 21 games coaching at Notre Dame...
2005
at scUM (7-5) 17-10
USC, oh wait, that was only a "moral victory"
*These are based on how the teams ended the season, so being ranked at the time of the game doesn't necessarily count and also makes scUM a bit of a stretch.
2006
at Ga Tech (7-2) 14-10

That's a grand total of TWO.

Record vs. RANKED oponents (ranked on the day of the game)...4-3

Well, color me impressed.

OK, for those who wish to continue with the discussion about Notre Dame's historic contribution to football or lack thereof, its strength of schedule or lack thereof, or whatever else that is related to football but not to the 2006 season, here is a thread to post in.

It's 8:19 am on a Sunday and Charlie Weiss is still a fat, greezy pig.
Perhaps, but you're in the wrong forum, please read above :wink2: Despite the talk of the large salary hes receiving, hes also the first coach to go at least 9-1 back to back seasons at ND since the early 90s, and the Willingham lovers have shut up as hes struggling with Washington...go figure.
[EDIT] These threads have been moved to the right thread now it looks like:)
