Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

Ran across these on EDSBS (I think they're originally by mgoblog):

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6M9fIincgM]YouTube - Brady Quinn For Heisman[/ame]

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLOtDB1SzSA]YouTube - Jimmy Clausen for Heisman[/ame]

ND should make "Yakety Sax" their fight song for the duration of Chuck's tenure.

Top 10 Reasons We All Hate Notre Dame

Everyone knows that the world of college football has an unwarranted love for Notre Dame. Every year we watch overrated teams take the field, always nationally televised, and of course they always disappoint . Denny Armstrong gives his top 10 reasons why he hates them.

10. The demands of being Irish-Catholic: Yes, we know that you are a Catholic Institution. Yes, we know that you have a derogatory Irish Mascot. Yes, I happen to be both. No, I don?t feel obligated to support you.
Facts show that nearly 14 percent of the United States thinks they are Irish, and over 26 percent claim to be Catholic (80 Christian). From my own research, 95 percent of the U.S. thinks they are Irish and 99 percent of those people claim to be Catholic-ish (Those numbers increase depending on how far you are into the tailgate).
Furthermore, you can make anything green, slap a shamrock on it and it will sell. Notre Dame has been abusing that fact for over a century. Seeing Notre Dame apparel is the only time when I wish I wasn?t Irish.

9. Lou Holtz?s Lisp: Listening to this man makes me long for Lee Corso. When did having a speech impediment move you to the top of the list for anything, especially TV analysis? Someone has a pact with a higher power?

8. WWTDJD: How do you like to picture Jesus? Notre Dame likes the Touchdown version the best. Sorry Boston College. Sorry TCU. Sorry SMU. Sorry Villanova. Touchdown Jesus supposedly lives in South Bend.

It's a good read, but it really misses one point. I remember as a kid, we had the Notre Dame game on Saturday and usually replayed on Sunday. They were constantly rammed down our throats as if they were the be-all end all of football. Also, the sense of entitlement that the fans get, "We almost beat SC, we should be in the National Title game" etc...

I don't "hate" Notre Dame, I hate the attitude their fans have, I hate their coach, and I hate the fact that people have this idea that Notre Dame is doing it the "Right Way."

That's noble, and I can respect that...me...I just HATE NoD and everything associated with them. I've come to enjoy watching them lose every week and I always root for whoever they are playing...even TSUN.

There's a reason for your hatred, it's because you touch yourself at night :p

Charlie Weiss responds to a reporter's question about the Jimmy Claussen "Beer Olympics" pics:

Q. Your thoughts on the pictures that appeared online earlier this week and what happens from here?
COACH WEIS: I'm going to answer that in two sentences. First of all, I think the obvious thing, on a serious note, I think it's important that I don't condone underage drinking. I think that's important to say.
But that being said and no sarcastic moment really meant to be, but give me a break. Let's move on on.
Q. Well, let me ask you this ?
COACH WEIS: Let's move on.
Q. I'm going to ask you this question anyway. The players, let's face it, they are underage and they pose for a picture in a situation that allegedly is questionable. They were in a position where they were allegedly drinking. Your thoughts on that?
COACH WEIS: Alleged by who?

Q. The website said they were participating in something called the Beer Olympics.

COACH WEIS: I said let's give them a break and let's move on. That's as far as I'm going to say. I'm not going to take it any further than that.
Q. Not going to be any discipline?
COACH WEIS: Let's move on on.

Stay classy, Charile.

I hate, really hate to say this, but I agree with CW on this one (little bits of throw-up in mouth). We've got to quit treating these kids like they are politicians running for the highest office in the land. Those folks deserve the scrutiny, not a bunch of teenage kids or young adults. I have a kid that age, and it wouldn't bother me a bit if she's out playing drinking games with friends. So long as she stays in control of her faculties and doesn't endanger herself or others, I am perfectly happy to treat her as the adult she is.

Well, until your daughter becomes the starting QB for arguably the most storied college football program and has her picture plastered all over the media, you can let her do what she wants.

Bottom line is that, whether we agree with the law or not, underage drinking is illegal and Clausen was caught in a position that clearly shows he was more than likely drinking. Wise comes off as thinking that his QB is above the law.

If you looked like an emu , you would drink too.

I guess it depends on what standard you are using: either WWCWD or WWTDJD. We are along way from Catholics v. Convicts. ND should drop the pretension of moral superiority.
