Notre Dame Fighting Irish (official thread of bowl failures)

Here's a scenario that could be a perfect storm for Notre Dame fans.

First, this story about cheating at the Pats is widening and gathering momentum as more opposing coaches begin to report incidents. Add to this the signs on the horizon that Weis was not only knew about videotaping of opposing teams signals as Pats offensive coordinator, but openly ackowledged it to opponents (link).

What inferences can people draw now that Charlie has his recruits but can't put a coherent offensive strategy together? Is his offensive genius due to cheating? Will a loss at TSUN raise more questions about his real abilities?

As anyone in PR knows, these things can take on a life of their own. Throw this story into a mix with disappointed and fickle fans, who are always on the lookout for some excuse to blame the demise of a once respected program on someone, and I think that life could begin to get very interesting for Charlie.

I don't know about you but I am watching with great anticipation.

I would like to see the national media raise the question of how RC in Cleveland and CW have had their struggles while the Pats just keep on keepin on.

Like I told ND chimp when he was gooing himself over the CW hire..the man had zero significant HC experience. No less a Domer icon than Lou Holtz said in his book that Ara Parsighian(sp) told him he(Ara) needed every ounce of his HC experience to handle the ND job and Holtz agreed. Those are two men who had extensive and proven track records befor ethey took the ND job.

Football history is littered with hot shot coordinators that couldn't make it as HC's. NoD has added another to that list.

I draw the inference that the 30 Million 10-year deal left no money in the budget at ND for State-Of-The Art Digicams.
Either that, or Charlie lost the instruction manual and can't work it out on his own.

From Stewart Mandels Saturday observations...

I?ve always held George O?Leary in high regard as a coach dating to his Georgia Tech days -- he even made an appearance on last year?s Mailbag Top 10 coaches list. After watching his UCF team play Texas tooth and nail for three-plus quarters Saturday, and after watching (as much as I could stomach of it) Notre Dame?s performance against Michigan, it?s worth asking: Where would the Irish be right now if O?Leary had never fibbed on his resume?

Good question.

can we sue willingham?

if there are lawyers or law students, i've got a question about the feasibility of suing willingham. his poor performance and lackadaisical approach to recruiting has almost singlehandly destroyed a proud and great nd football program.

if he had in good faith tried to recruit and he had fallen short that would be one thing. its like ron zook may be a joke as a coach but i don't doubt that he tries his best. its just that zook's best is a joke. but, its well documented that willingham would rather play golf than act in the manner befitting a responsible coach. surely, there must have been clauses in his contract about such expectations.

the damages should be easy to prove. nd will lose millions of dollars from a major bowl game because of willingham.

Re: can we sue willingham?

Are you a complete idiot, or is this just a poor attempt at comedy?

I've seen some lame ass posts in my day... too impatient to give Willigham the time to build his own program, ND bought him out... this is Super Bowl Ring's third year... ND is playing with his recruits now, not Willingham's, and the truth is out, the cupboard is bare... place the blame where it belongs, right on Charlie's ample ass.
