It's called victory formation, Brian.
-Brian Kelly"I don't know that I've ever in my college career taken a knee and then punted the football"
-Aurthur CarlsonAs God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly
The chart said take a knee, but he didn't like the qb situation so decided to run it. He didn't tell the rb to fumble the kid did that all on his own.

Mark Goodman in Chicago: Love your coverage of ND football. Not to be picky, but Lombard and Utupo are no red-shirt seniors; each is a grad student, having already received their Notre Dame undergraduate degree. I know you were probably using the red-shirt senior label to not confuse readers who are not used to college football players getting degrees, let along getting them on time in 4 years.
Matt Fortuna: Thanks, Mark. And as a wise writer once said: "A rose by any other name ..." Neither player played in his freshman year. Therefore, each redshirted.
Cincinnati isn't even that good this year. How Kelly is doing worse at ND with all the resources they have is beyond me.

Cincinnati really hasn't faced anyone outside of tOSU though, they have a steady diet of Tulane, SMU, Conneticut, etc. The Irish have some major roster issues on defense right now between injuries and the suspensions. Ishaaq Williams, KeiVarie Russell, Joe Schmidt, Jarron Jones, Sheldon Day, Cody Riggs, and Austin Collinsworth are all starters that have been out the 2nd half of the season or longer. There's a number of guys in the two deep, like Daniel Cage, that are also out. There's just too many freshmen and sophomores out there right now, too much miscommunication, it's a completely different defense than they had in September and early October. Golson's turnovers certainly haven't helped the defense out either.
It just seems like the wheels have come off since the FSU game. From consideration for the playoff to out of the top 25 in just 4 weeks.
I don't know, I think their chemistry is right about where it should be.I'm wondering if the players have started to turn on Kelly over the past couple of weeks. Kelly publicly threw Golston under the bus, blaming him for the loss. I doubt that sat very well with some of the guys...... There is something seriously wrong with that program's chemistry right now......
