Notre Dame 35, Michigan 17 (final)

The fun thing is. Irish fans think this is a good win.

Any game we beat Michigan is a good win :wink2: I've been to a lot of them, despite neither of these teams coming in with any hype, it was still a fun game, moreso with the rain. Fortunately they were smart and scored points in the first half, neither offense did anything in the 2nd half. The 2nd half came down to who was able to hold onto the ball and not give the team any points, Michigan failed and sealed it. The rain through the 3rd and most of 4th quarter was crazy at times, large waterfalls cascaded down the steps, and ND didn't really throw the ball much at that point, which was a good move.

You gotta give the guy credit, he stood with a torn ACL and MCL on the sidelines in a killer rain storm for a full half.

I don't know many coaches who would do that, let alone players.
And he got a Gatorade bath afterwards, with a big ice chunk on the head, to which he told the players "C'mon guys, I'm having a bad day already" and laughed. He had some funny post game quotes to the media, he may have been on Morphine, I dunno. One of the press asked jokingly if Weis was probable or questionable for the game next week, he said something along the lines of "I'll be there as a coach and in spirit, but as a player I'm out for the year." Then they asked what the damage was, he said "MCL/ACL torn, and they say it will require surgury. Man, I feel like an athlete, thats the first time in my life!" That got some good chuckles from the press. Someone from the press asked about Golden Tate and how his confidance level must be booming, coach replied "Oh yeah, hes got a lot of confidance, hes a legend in his own mind already."

Anyway, lotta mistakes were had by both teams, more so by Michigan, but the rain was a factor as expected. The Irish went more conservative at that point and tried to run the ball more, which wasn't as effective. Michigan continued to run, but had problems holding on with all the rain. There was definitly a LOT of UM holding going on and maybe 1 flag was thrown for it, there may have been a lot of ND holding too, but I was watching the skill positions more. The O-line was able to keep the sacks at 0 for the season again, Jimmy bailed them out a few times though, made the smart call this year and threw two balls away when no one was open. David Bruton was a beast. He had 15 tackles, 1 or 2 fumbles caused, and an INT I believe. McCarthy had another great game as well with 10 tackles I think.

As far as Michigan State, someone commented that the Irish will probably lose next week, and I'm still going to agree with them. Despite any confidance ND may be coming away with this week, Michigan State plays the Irish tough each year, and lately they've had their number more times than not. Shortly after the ND game, State usually crumbles the remaining part of the schedule. After Michigan State is Purdue, which won't be any better. Still can't believe Painter is still playing, feels like that guy is 28.

I couldn't help but notice that Morgan Trent got burned badly for six once again.

He was personally responsiblefor ND first three TD's.

1st was a PI call in the endzone that led to a walk in TD on the next play.

2nd ND TD was a fade thrown over him.

3rd was vintage Trent in which he was burned badly for a long TD. I love his patented look of disbelief as he throws his hands up in the air and looks around at everyone else after one of those.
