Notes to Team USA for future WBC play

Well whaddaya know...a 3 run rally in the bottom of the ninth to eliminate Puerto Rico, 6-5, and move on to the semi finals. Nice to see some heart from our team. :)

I don't blame the pitchers as much as the position players. A pitchers' routine for getting ready for the regular season is a little more delicate than hitters. USA WINS!!!

Understood. Everyone knows what they have to do to get ready by April. So once every 3 years do it to be ready by March, thats all.

Also I think it's unfair to call out these MLB players. They play from February-October! They get 3-4 months off at the most, and play basically every day for the other 8-9 months Straight.

Don't make it sound like they're sacrificing so much... I can think of a few billion people who would give up one of those months off if they got paid $10 million plus for the other 8.

This is an embarrassment. You ever seen the Canadiens not give a [censored] about an international hockey event? Hell no you haven't because its their game, they invented it, its part of their culture they have NATIONAL PRIDE.

Uhhh... may not want to mention this. I understand what you're saying; however, Canada's never won a Gold in an Olympics that is staged in Canada. If you can't get up for and win what occurs in your own country IN THE SPORT YOU CREATED; then you suck (pride or not).

1) If you are going to go to the trouble of entering a team in a competition in which they are keeping score how about you go into it with the mindest of winning the goddamn thing?

2) If an elite US born player isn't hurt and doesn't want to play, fine. Tell the commie mother fucker to pack his shit and try to make millions of dollars playing a game in some other country. He's free to choose which.

3) If you are going to play and try to win, get off your sorry dead asses a little sooner in the off season and be ready to fucking play at a high level by March. I'm sick of hearing how out of shape/not there yet US players are when the other teams are playing like their hair is on fire. Get in shape, get the team together sooner, play some exhibition games and try to WIN!

Quick list of lazy prima donna commie bastards who think they are too goood to play for their country:

Brian Fuentes
CC Sabathia
Cole Hammels
Tim Lincecum
Ryan Howard
Prince Fielder
Josh Hamilton

I'm sure there are more I'm not thinking of.

This is an embarrassment. You ever seen the Canadiens not give a shit about an international hockey event? Hell no you haven't because its their game, they invented it, its part of their culture they have NATIONAL PRIDE.

Men ten times better than anyone you see on the field tonight have given their lives for this country and these sorry ass, spoiled, rich bitch, pussy baseball players can't even get the best team together, put in some early work and be ready to play well to represent their country. This makes me fucking sick to my stomach.

Hammels has elbow problems right now. Not sure if that had anything to do with his decision not to participate, but he is currently nursing it.

I can live with suck. I cannot live with giving less than the best we have

To the best of my knowledge he didn't have them when he passed on playing. Again, if I jumped on any of these guys who were actually hurt, then my bad.

That said, there is clearly a sizeable list of top shelf talents that are godless communist heathens at the core of their ink black hearts.

David Wright and Youkillis get it.

Wright then lined a 2-1 pitch just inside the right-field line, raising his fist when the ball dropped in. The New York Mets star called the hit the biggest of his career.
?You?re talking about representing the United States of America,? he said. ?You?ve got that across the front of your chest. To be able to get that hit, that?s got to be right up there at the top of the list.?
Wright was mobbed by teammates near second base after two runs scored.
?You?re celebrating a game,? Youkilis said. ?You?re celebrating a nation.?

From the emotion I have seen from the guys who are actually there, they all seem to get it. Too bad the powers that be didn't get them better prepared or get some of the cockholes who sat out to play.

Guys like Ryan Howard and CC Sabathia might as well move to the Netherlands as far as I'm concerned.

Great article from Passan about the game last night. It makes me appreciate the guys who get it (and despise those who don't) all the more.

The flag traveled around the world and through the deserts of Afghanistan and Iraq. Sgt. Felix Perez brought it from home as a reminder and an amulet. The flag never left his Army backpack.

?That was the greatest game I?ve ever been a part of,? catcher Brian McCann said. ?Ever.?
Same went for Perez. He said he would rather Team USA win the WBC than the Mets win a World Series.
?We?re the U.S.,? Perez said. ?This is our game. ? This is the world. You?re representing your country. What is more honorable than representing your country??
Team USA?s manager, Davey Johnson, grew up an Army brat, his father a prisoner-of-war in World War II.
?There is nothing more honorable,? he said.
Wright was raised near Naval Station Norfolk, one of the largest military bases in the country.
?When you see those guys and get a chance to see how much it means to them, that makes it extra special,? he said. ?They take a lot of pride in that red, white and blue, and to have USA across your chest and have supporters like that ? that?s what this tournament means.?

Beat me to it. Thanks for posting that, Jax.

And so began the coolest 30 minutes of Felix Perez’s life. On an evening when he felt especially proud to be an American – when a group of his sporting heroes wearing his country’s name across their chests banded together to win a game they had no business winning – Perez found himself surrounded by them, doused with celebratory Miller Lites, with the American flag that was with him during the worst moment of his life passed around the room and signed by every player on the team.

I agree. I don't understand why these guys can't behave more like the Cuban players. WWCGD. (What Would Che Guevara Do?)
