On the whole, NCAA has become 'too big to fail'. It's more likely authority continues to be chipped away at the highest level as the autonomous conferences act as an exception within the system.

This must be the longest scandal in history. I don't for a second think that UNC will actually lose their accreditation over this, but the talk continues.

Denied admission by UNC, 2016 signee James Pierre moves on to Syracuse
Deemed not good enough academically for North Carolina — insert the one-liners at your leisure — James Pierre has been deemed qualified for another ACC school instead.
Friday, Syracuse announced that Pierre has signed with the Orange and officially added to the football team’s roster. The move comes a little over two weeks after reports surfaced that the defensive back was denied admission to UNC.

North Carolina avoids major sanctions in academic fraud case
North Carolina avoided major sanctions after the NCAA could not conclude the school violated academic rules when it made available deficient Department of African and Afro-American Studies "paper courses" to the general student body, including student-athletes.
The NCAA said in a release Friday that the Committee on Infractions panel found two violations in this case: Former department chairman Julius Nyang'oro and retired office administrator Deborah Crowder failed to cooperate during the investigation. The only sanction connected with the probe is a five-year show cause for Nyang'oro lasting until Oct. 12, 2022. Crowder was not punished, but the NCAA says it is making note of her initial lack of cooperation.
