Illinois Middle School Bans Hugging

No hugs allowed at Ill. middle school

If you need a hug, you won't get it at Percy Julian Middle School. Principal Victoria Sharts banned hugging among the suburban Chicago school's 860 students anywhere inside the building. She said students were forming "hug lines" that made them late for classes and crowded the hallways.
"Hugging is really more appropriate for airports or for family reunions than passing and seeing each other every few minutes in the halls," Sharts said.
Another reason to institute the no-hugging policy was that some hugs could be too long and too close, she said.
"There is another side to the issue when a hug is either unwanted or becomes inappropriate as judged by one of the students involved," Sharts wrote in a statement to parents. "On occasion, we do deal with those incidents. The goal is always to promote safe and orderly hallways where everybody can get by, be safe, and be on time."

Now the school may have a point about the precipitative cause of student tardiness. But, wouldn't it have been as simple to enforce the rules already in place. Say, by giving any student late for class detention?

That also puts a damper on the lunchtime orgies in the teachers lounge, in all fairness. :biggrin:

I have no problem with this ban at all. I certainly don't want my kids going to school to be in hug lines. My own daughter who chaperones high school dances and proms is aghast at what the school board in Westerville allows.
If I did that and saw teenage girls rubing their asses against the boys crotches I'd be in jail. You guys sit in here and berate Hilton and Spears and then say what you are saying about the school. How do you think Hilton and Spears got the way they are?

........ Most of the replies were a play on words for the principal's last name.. Sharts (shit fart).... But you make good points.

I have only clues as to how those two ended up as demented sluts. But, I'm sure it had nothing to do with incontinence issues suffered by a Middle School Principal in Illinois.

Or hugging in the corridor.
