What's the BCS's job? To match the #1 and #2 teams in the country in a bowl game. How does it do that? That's changed over the years. Whatever process it uses will never make everyone happy for long.
I was watching "Cold Pizza" yesterday morning for the first time ever. I didn't see enough of it to make a decision as to whether it was a good show. Some lady was interviewing some guy named "Scoop Jackson." He said something to the order of "The BCS finally got it right." I was thinking, "DUH! The BCS got the only two undefeated teams.. the formula really didn't do anything." In 2002 there were 2 undefeated teams, and the media thought it was the greatest thing ever. The BCS was going to find it difficult to screw 2002 or 2005 up.
If a team loses one game.. one single game.. they can't whine about not being in the national championship game. 2001 Oregon and 2003 USC have the silliest complaints ever. Once any 1-loss team complains that they're "being screwed," I think that they, not the BCS, loses validity.
If you want to make it to the BCS championship game, there's only one thing you need to do: win your flippin' games. (Last year's Auburn team is the only one who has a good argument, in my opinion.)
