NFL Draft, Cam Heyward, and Fake Locker

alexhortdog95

Eye to the future, honoring the past
Just listened to this young man on NFL Radio. Must say, I'm quite impressed with how mature he is. He was asked why he stayed in school for his senior season, and he replied that he has a dream to become a teacher, so he had to get his degree. He also stated that he knows that the NFL won't last forever, so he has to have a life after football plan. Talked a little bit about his father as well.

They asked him what grade he wanted to teach, he said 3 - 5. Don't think he'll have a problem with kids, lol.

Very, very impressed. Hope he has a good career as well as realizes his dream to teach.

Then, the NFL network followed that up by saying that Fake Locker isn't attending the draft. At this point....WHO CARES?!?!? He's one of the worst QBs Eeeeeevvvvvveeeer. How they think that dude is an NFL QB I will never know.

:roll2:. I'm sure this has nothing to do with the fact that UW beat your team in a bowl game this year. I don't think Locker will be an NFL hall of famer, but I think he could be a solid NFL QB. I'd put him behind Mallet but ahead of Gabbert and certainly Newton in this year's draft.

LOL - naw, especially since they trashed (4-20, 71 yards, 2 INTs) the guy earlier in the year. My dislike of Locker is because ESPN is pimping this guy just like they do USC.

I wouldn't put that guy ahead of any of the quarterbacks you listed. I agree that the most NFL ready guy (I'm sure SmoovP will get me on this one ) is Mallett. Locker is a HUGE work that will have to sit behind an experienced veteran QB. The scouts are drooling over him because he's got that 'kind of Cam Newton' physical ability, but more upside cause he's not a knuckehead.

Here's my top 5 QB (in order) for this draft:

1. Mallett
2. Dalton
3. sCam Newton
4. Ponder
5. Gabbert (as painful as it was to put him here).

I think you could draft Locker just above Kapernick. I don't pay much attention to pro days or combine stats - only game stats, cause that's what counts on the field.

You know you're a college football fan when espn dictates who you like and dislike. "why do you dislike xxxxx xxxx player?" The media...makes it sound as if someone is permaglued to a couch with no functioning limbs and forced to sit through sportscenter or die.

This guy loves him some SportsCenter:

The NFL scouts seem generally to order these guys thusly:

1. Newton
2. Gabbert
3. Ponder
4. Locker
5. Dalton
6. Kaepernick
... everyone else (Note Mallett is regarded as JaMarcus Russell redux - looks great, unquestionable talent, but character concerns abound. One expert says he's like the hot chick with STDs - looks great, but stay clear.)

Some NFL guys seem to like Gabbert best. Some rate Dalton over Locker. All these guys know more than any of us. None of them is infallible.

It's crazy what they're doing to Ryan Mallett with the character assassination.

About 98.9% of it is complete fabrication.

Here are the facts:

1. He had one very minor brush with the law
2. He's never failed a drug test
3. He's a solid leader
4. He works extremely hard in the film room and practice field
5. His arm is an exceedingly rare thing
6. He is bright and has a very high football IQ
7. He's cocky but not arrogant
8. He is slow of foot

But to hear the ESPN wankers and some of the other talking heads tell it, you'd think he is a drug-addicted child molester who bathes in the blood of sacrificed kitties while singing Air Supply songs and should just go ahead and give up the dream of an NFL career because it's hopeless already.

I figure he must have:

A) Stinkholed someone's girlfriend or daughter
B) Some team drafting late in the first round is trying to drive him down so they can get him
C) Some other players agent is trying to drive him down so his client will get picked higher
D) Haters gonna hate

Locker's athleticism is pretty impressive, but the dude couldn't throw a football into the ocean if he were standing in it. I think putting him over Gabbert is insanity, because Gabbert is more accurate and also pretty athletic himself.

I don't like Newton as a pro QB. At all.

Mallet is good unless he has to move. Then, not so much.

If I had to rate them, I'd go...

Gabbert
Mallet
Newton
Dalton
Ponder
Locker
Kaepernick

Haven't seen enough of Kaepernick to really make an intelligent assessment of him though. I think I've seen a few games of everyone other than him. I have Newton that high because NFL minds have him higher, and I'd say they know a lot more than I do.

All that being said, this is a shitty QB draft. I don't even really like Gabbert that much.
