You think at any rate.
It's way too common at basically all levels anymore to be some grand conspiracy.
Add to that - people talk. Especially people who are involved in whatever grand conspiracy you want to believe is there. This has been an issue for years. Someone would have spilled the story by now, especially someone who got fired or let go from refereeing because they sucked.
There were 3 fired before the season. Usually they just got non-renewed from their contracts or they get "retired", because, as I said, they are older than they ever have been at all levels. There doesn't need to be a grand conspiracy. Just a few refs in the same crew deciding they are going to alter the outcome. In the NFL especially they know they won't face any consequences. How many refs actually get let go for incompetence?

Again - keeping some sort of grand conspiracy a secret is a hell of a lot harder than you want to imagine it is - and this issue is happening literally from the high school level on up through college and into the NFL.
And yet brian POS branch gets away with this..
Because you're more aware of it than ever. It's at all time highs in college too. Not to mention high school. It's at all time highs in the NFL

It's always been bad. The ref demographics (age primarily, but scarcity too) make it worse. Add in instant availability of social media replays and people start imagining shit that isn't really new.
Who said it's impossible?I think it's cute that you think it's impossible that these refs could be altering the outcome for the benefit of their pockets. We've seen it in the NBA

Who said it's impossible?
I gave you my opinion that it's too common to be some sort of conspiracy, that's hardly saying it's impossible
It's incredibly hard to hold together a conspiracy of the size you're dreaming of here, and I'm right.
Could 1 guy be doing something? Maybe. But that's not at all what you're saying here, and again, as I've said a few times, officiating competence at all levels of football is under a microscope of scrutiny, exposing something that's been an issue forever. You're more aware of it because of the social media influence of these things.
Does not mean it's right, or good, or anything, and somehow the leagues/conferences/athletic associations need to figure it out, but IN MY IMO, a grand conspiracy is emotional self-serving nonsense with little basis in reality.
I saw a graphic today that showed the number of flags thrown this year is at an all-time high historically. I think the refs are over-officiating everything against everyone. Edit to add: I think that is, in part, because of the amount of noise surrounding missed or made calls too. You see it in baseball too.I'm just saying the optics are awful either way. Am I wrong In saying that when the refs start taking the game over it's usually disproportionately against one team? It's hard to think that's just a coincidence when it happens so much.

I think blaming it or putting it on one team or the other probably doesn't stand to scrutiny statistically, but you made the claim so you get to figure that out if it's legit or not. Otherwise, it's just an opinion.
