On the play, Caleb Williams took the snap and immediately handed the ball off to guard Joe Thuney. This was a trick play by the Bears and not only did it NOT work, but they lost five yards after the officiating crew threw a flag.

Officiating in the NFL has been beyond awful this year. It's like the refs all got together and decided they were going to make every game about then.

There was just a play in the Lions Packers game where the WR got up and kept playing because he thought he wasn't touched....no whistle either but the Packers defender got flagged for tackling him probably because the refs got knocked down in the exchange

These refs need to be investigated. Called intentional grounding when the ball literally skipped right in front of a eligible receiver

I agree! Every game is a flagfest. The inconsistency in a single game is just ridiculous.

I did see an article where ratings are down and I think it’s because the games have become unwatchable.

Roughing the passer in particular has gotten beyond ridiculous. Just put flags on the QBs at this point if nobody can touch them at all

Who is going to investigate them? The NFL?

Let's just face the real reality here - non-professional referees who aren't full-time employees and who are also in their 50s or later can't keep up with the speed and intensity of the game anymore.

These fuckers are incompetent. A lot of them are now.

It's way too common at basically all levels anymore to be some grand conspiracy.

Add to that - people talk. Especially people who are involved in whatever grand conspiracy you want to believe is there. This has been an issue for years. Someone would have spilled the story by now, especially someone who got fired or let go from refereeing because they sucked.
