NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

He had the worst WR corps in the league this year, possibly by a wide margin, and still won the SB. Yeah he had Kelce, but he's in his Bettis I'll impact when I feel like it and bitch when I don't stage, and Pacheo was a good RB but not spectacular. Guy's wife and brother are insufferable, and he whines wayyyyyy too much, but he's a stone cold killer. He's one behind Bradshaw (who he's way better than), and Montana, and then it's just Brady. My guess is he's going to make a run at it if he doesn't get hurt.
I remember watching clips of Mahomes in college. Thought he was fun as hell to watch.
Haven't seen a lick of him in the NFL as I don't watch that any more at all.

Good lord, just looked at the stats.... 23/38 .... Purdy with 38 pass attempts (I know most of those were short, to the side with CMC but still).... 22 rushes for CMC but no more than 3 for anyone else... Shanny wtf are you thinking man... I know everyone is like fire the DC.... thats fine... I dont think they did a bad job they lost one of their best LBs on what the second series? the O was chewing up clock and KC's D was absolutely GASSED IMO this loss falls squarely on Shanny and not the D...

The defense started playing prevent defense and lost them the game. They had 4-5 DBs regularly lining up 3-5 yards behind the line to gain pretty often in the 4th and OT.

I thought the offense was fine, personally.

KC’s defense only gave up like 4 PPG in the second half this season. They’re really good at defense.

Super Bowl LVIII sets TV ratings record with 123.4M viewers

The longest Super Bowl game also will go down as the most-watched program in television history.

According to Nielsen and Adobe Analytics, the Kansas City Chiefs' 25-22 overtime victory versus the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday averaged 123.4 million viewers across television and streaming platforms. That shattered last year's mark of 115.1 million for Kansas City's last-play victory over the Philadelphia Eagles with a 7% increase.

The game was televised by CBS, Nickelodeon and Univision and streamed on Paramount+ as well as the NFL's digital platforms.

Random thoughts from a broken 49ers fan:

I thought, overall, Shanny called a good game. He started to go away from the run and I said "here we go again", but he called great drives on their go-ahead drive in the 4th and in OT. The Chiefs D stood up when they needed to in OT.

We need a new DC. Wilks was brilliant on 1st and 2nd downs, but I don't know wtf he was thinking on most 3rd downs.

Fuck Jake Moody. I knew he was going to cost us. Yes, he made the three clutch FGs, much to my surprise, but you cannot miss that XP. I knew as soon as it was blocked, we were doomed.

The Chiefs were outstanding on defense after the first quarter. They knew the 49ers strengths and limitations and exploited them.

Bosa and Chase Young kept the Niners in the game. They largely limited the damage Mahomes could inflict by keeping him contained...as Romo pointed out countless times.

The Cheifs are inevitable. I cannot stand Mahomes, but he's a stone-cold killer. Once we settled for the FG in OT, I started cleaning up and getting ready for bed. I didn't need to watch that shit.

Fuck sports.

Sometimes shitty luck just trumps everything.
KC fumbling 4 times and SF only recovered one of them is a tell tale sign that "this just isn't our night"
