I was listening to a podcast where the one guy said CMC was the leader for an award, and the other guy incredulously said "for MVP?!" as if that was a ridiculous take. And the first guy said "no, offensive POY", and the second guy was like "oh ok....that makes more sense."

So in their minds the cheat code that is CMC is obviously the shoe in for the best offensive player.....but it's ludicrous to even suggest he be in the MVP conversation. And that was all rational and normalized.
