NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

Sounds like the Falcons need a SMART coach who is familiar with the state of Georgia to straighten things out 8D

ATL sports radio had a nice analogy on Cousins this morning.
If he was a restaurant, he would be Chili's. Reliable, steady, you know what you're going to get and its safe.
Joe Burrow is Jeff Ruby's but he wasn't available...etc

We'll see if Chili's is enough to get you into the playoffs.

I don't think folks (EDIT: me included) realize how insane the cap situation is/was for the Chargers. And the Raiders just hired the GM who is responsible, lol.

The top 5 non-QB cap hits for the 2024 NFL season:
1. Khalil Mack, $38.5M (LAC)
2. Joey Bosa, $36.6M (LAC)
3. Keenan Allen, $34.7M (LAC)
4. Aaron Donald, $34.1M (LAR)
5. Mike Williams, $32.4M (LAC)

Yikes

Mike Williams has been cut.

Also, Danielle Hunter to the Texans. Houston and CJ gonna have a nice team.

Keenan Allen traded to the Bears for a 4th

Weird move for the Bears. I know they need a WR, but Keenan doesn't really fit their timeline. lol. Also sucks for him, I'm sure he's happy they traded him for a fourth instead of doing him a solid and cutting him. But a fourth isn't nothing.

Hollywood Brown to the Chiefs. Really nice signing for them.

Chicago is where QBs go to die. Jay Cutler holds every major record, except INTs, which is still held by Sid Luckman (who used to hold all of the major records prior to Cutler), who hasn't played since 1950.
Aside from an 8 year run from the mid-80s til the early-90s, that has been a shit franchise for 50 years. They'll have a nice season every once in a while, but for the most part, trash.

Their all-time leading receiver put up pedestrian numbers in the 50s and 60s...it's inconceivable that in the modern era, somebody hasn't passed him. Their QB history is a horror show.

On that note, some neat Bears facts:

Alshon Jeffery is third on the list of all time receiving yards in Bears history, and he was only there five seasons.

Jay Cutler had four of the top five most passing yards in a season.

Mitchell Trubisky has the 6th most passing yards in a single season.

No Bears QB has ever thrown 30 TDs.

Jay Cutler is statistically the best QB they've ever had, and it isn't close. He has 17 more career TDs than #2 and almost 10k more passing yards.

Trubisky is 5th in Bears history in passing TDs and passing yards.

RIP Keenan Allen
