NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

Fields has his flaws, but being stuck in that organization is an awful thing to be saddled with.

I think his only hope is to wash out, be a backup somewhere else and rebound. Maybe sit under Lamar Jackson or something, i don't know.

Gashed something awful. But I think they’ll figure out Barkley, Jones can kill them all game

Barkley, as always, does his 2ypc and down on 1st touch routine.
With 10-15 touches, he can usually find a big play. But more than that, he's just a waste. Doesn't matter how jacked he is, never more than a poor mans Reggie Bush.

He was so very calm about it, hard to picture it being an Achilles tear. Usually the pain associated makes grown men thrash about in obvious pain.

My 38 year old brother tore his Achilles playing bball last year and here's his quote to me just now...

It was initial pain, then nothing probably bc shock took over. I stood up and hopped to the bench. But I wouldn't say it was crazy pain... it's just quite shocking to reach to the back of your foot and clearly feel that your tendon is NOT THERE. I hit the deck..... felt like I got kicked.... looked around and no one was around... and that's when I reached for it

When there's a complete tear, sometimes there's almost no pain. Cuz that shits disconnected. Neurons are screaming into the void.
It's the 2nd degree that hurts like all hell, because your flooded by all the nerve endings anywhere close to the tear.

In 2021, Carson Wentz had 27 TD passes and 7 INTs. That's not a walking turnover.

Jim Irsay, in his infinite wisdom, dumped Wentz for Matt Ryan. Ryan had 14 TDs and 13 INTs in 2022. That's a walking turnover.

Stats without further context are no bueno.

That Colts team ran, quite literally, through Johnathan Taylor. In the first 8 games of the season, Wentz threw 30 times or more only 3 times. . The second half of the season he threw 30+ times 7 times.

Per his previous seasons, his turnover worthy throw rate, accredited sack rate and throw average scaled disproportionately to his increased attempts.

He's essentially a taller, more athletic Baker Mayfield at this point. If there's a good Oline and badass running game, then Wentz is fine. He can operate around an offense designed to minimize his deficiencies and force defenses to more rigid early and short down structure. If there isn't and the QB is forced to shoulder more of the offense, then he becomes an inefficient passer. Especially down the stretch of seasons and on needed 3rd down conversions thar require passing sans ball action.

As far as I can tell, there's little to no coaching staff overlap from his previous stops. So you'd be asking him to walk into a situation where he'll be learning to language, offensive structure, coaches and personnel in an incredibly short time. All while playing behind a shaky Oline.

If Carson wasn't a turnover machine before, that's the recipe to make him into one.

Yeah, if you need a clearer message from the football gods that they do indeed hate you, I don't know what it could be.
If the Bills go on to win the Super Bowl this year that would be it.

Pats and Phins have several sb wins, but the Bills failures make the Jets seem a bit less pathetic in the AFC East. So if the Bills win it all this year, that’ll be the final nail.

The Bills aren't winning any Super Bowls with Josh Allen playing like he did last night. At this point he's basically a more athletic Phillip Rivers. He will get you to the playoffs every season, and he will be the cause of your first or second round exit every season.

One of Ryan Day's frequently dropped pearls is, "Make the routine plays routinely, and don't make bad plays worse." Everything else can be exciting or frustrating to watch and cause fans to either cheer or boo, but it is all essentially window dressing. If a QB can't tick those two basic boxes, you have a QB that is incapable of winning either a FBS National Championship or a Super Bowl.

I agree. Just saying, that’s the only thing that could happen that would make the life of a Jets fan any worse.
