NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

There's a storm brewing in Miami...

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...ing-the-handling-of-tua-tagovailoa-on-sunday/

As explained by Michael Smith on the Amazon postgame show, NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith texted to Andrew Whitworth (a former NFLPA player rep) and Richard Sherman (a member of the NFLPA executive committee) the following message: “We insisted on these rules to avoid exactly this scenario. We will pursue every legal option, including making referrals against the doctors to licensing agencies and the team that is obligated to keep our players safe.”

so basically noone’s else getting fired or losing license over semantics

Not quite. Apparently the doctor that evaluated Tua is getting the boot.

That's scapegoating, though. Him playing Thursday was a systemic failure at multiple levels within the Dolphins organization and the NFL as a whole. Anybody with any common sense could see that Tua wasn't right on Sunday. You don't shake your head and go all wobbly in the legs from "aggravating your back." I'm sure Tua said he was fine because that's what athletes do. Everyone around him failed to protect him. Throwing him back out there on short rest was reckless and disgustingly irresponsible. Heads should roll, but they won't.
