NFC Championship Game: Vikings at Saints(-4.5)

Setting aside the fact the Saints had more penalties than the Vikings, perhaps Minnesota shouldn't have turned the ball over 5 times. :roll2:

I didnt have money on the game.

Im not saying they deserved to win, but every call went against them in overtime, there is no denying that.

I am not a Saints or Vikings fan, but its a shame seeing a shitty pass interference call determine who goes to the super bowl.

The Vikings might not have tied it up if not for a shitty PI call that went their way.

I hate the way they do that now. You don't get flagged for interfering, you get flagged for not turning your head to look at a bad pass thrown into coverage that goes incomplete. That's a joke.

The 'Aints profited from one of those in OT though - called on the emergency, possibly uncatchable pass by Brees to TE Thomas.

NFL needs to change it's OT rules to whoever scores 6 points first wins. It's a much better improvement then the shit that they have now.

The one fact out of this is that he NFL has the worst overtime system.

Also, the Super Bowl will suck because I'll have to root for the freaking Colts.

Give each team a possession from their own 40 yard line, with one time out. Repeat until you have a winner.

I'm a big Vikings and Saints fan this year. Would have rooted for either team to beat the Colts. Love that the Saints have Will Smith and Malcolm Jenkins.

That being said, the OT left a terrible taste in my mouth. How can officiating be that bad. 3 TERRIBLE calls in the span of 2 minutes.

Not a first down on the 4th and 1 run. Once Pierre Thomas loses control of that ball, forward progress is irrelevant. It's where that ball is regained which was clearly behind the first down marker. I understand the hesitation to not overturn that call, but it was bad nonetheless.

Marcus Colston absolutely trapped that catch. Not overturned. Leaves NO in great FG range.

The PI call awarded to David Thomas was a joke. Thomas was falling after backpedlling on his heels before any contact was made. The ball was absolutely uncatchable. How the ref makes that call when the ball is 10 yards overthrown, and the player is falling to the ground before any contact is made is just poor officiating....

3 missed calls in the first possesion of OT.

I'm having a hard time feeling sorry for Minny at the same time when they wasted the last 40 seconds of game regulation. Seriously?? 1st and 10 from the 35-36 yard line, 40 seconds, NO has zero timeouts, and you're going to run the football on 1st and 2nd down and be content with a 50+ yard field goal? I just don't understand game management sometimes...You have first and second down to move the football, and if you have 2 incomplete passes, you run on third down and take the shot at a 50+ yard field goal with 2 seconds left on the clock after you use your last TO. It isn't rocket science. Where is the game management??

Unreal.

I agree with all of that, and then some (e.g. holding call on the first 3rd down of OT, the spot of the ball leading up to the 4th down play). The Vikings definitely made their mistakes all game long, including dropping a gift-wrapped INT in OT, but it is unbelievable that some of those calls were made, and that some were upheld on review. How can officiating play such a big role in a game of that magnitude?
