Look, I'm not writing off next year. I said what I thought would 'probably' happen (hard to maintain this kind of momentum either way... consensus #1 for team and heisman)... and so I agree with others to strike while the iron is hot.
I'm well aware of the preseason naysayers... I was not among them. Then again, I'll take our DC & 9 new defenders before a new QB anyday. That kind of 'departure' is bigger than any other, which I believe our fanbase argued ad nauseum in the texas thread.
buckiprof, I'm absolutely loving this season. I also enjoy looking at next year in a thread dwelling on scholarship limits.
Never said you were writing off next year. Simply stated that before every season, one can say that the Bucks are probably not going to go undefeated and that statement will be correct most of the time.
The departure of a Heisman winning QB will cause some growing pains, however in your post the departures you mentioned, parenthetically, were early departures, which is what I was referencing.
I don't consider OSU as being a program that needs to "maintain momentum". To me, that phrase pertains to WVU or Louisville, i.e., a team that is trying to climb to the top rung in college football. To me, what JT has put in place at OSU is about maintaining a level of excellence. Maybe I'm talking semantics here, but to me they are different things.
I trust you are enjoying the season and you are simply speculating on who may (or may not) leave early after this wonderful season. I guess that I am getting a little older and am "living in the moment" enjoying, no make that savoring, each and every week, each and every player on this team, and as a result, have not let any thoughts of early departures enter my mind. As JT says, "It is what it is" I change that so slightly to "It will be what it will be" (for any early departures) and rest quite comfortably knowing that JT is in charge of the ship.
