Next year (2007) and greyshirt talk

It was my understanding that in 2003 Boeckman participated in fall practice up til the start of the season, then enrolled as a part time student - thus delaying the start of the 5 year clock. That may not be full parcicipatin, but he was part of the program and would have gotten a lot of the fundamentals and would have been in a position to get a lot out of watching what others are doing.

For JT it is not about the arm, it is about the decision making. If Boeckman (most likely candidate) shows he can do that we may see things open up - otherwise we will button them up.

Agreed. Part of a QB "stepping up", as I put it, is the mental as well as physical aspect of the position.

Obvious drop off at QB, but as others have said Boeckmans been around now for awhile, and then you have Robby and Henton..

Pittman, Chris Wells, Mo Wells, and the addition of Saine

Ginn & Gonzo (im keeping ym fingers crossed still) but if they both go.. Robiskie, Hartline, Small, and Dukes/Lyons

The O-Line will improve, IMO

And then on D, we'll have one of the best groups of DBs and LBs in the country as well as the emergence of Washington, Rose.. and Gholstons back. Thats a freak front 3 in a year, lacking only experience.. but with an awesome back 8, i have confidence that Heacock will have the silver bullets in typical form.

All kickers are back..

While the loss of Troy Smith can't be understated, we could see a very dynamic running game with a solid passing game helping to keep the defenses honest if nothing else.

The biggest key to next year, IMO.. is the lasting effect of this year. By that i mean after Troy and the seniors go, they have helped the freshman, sophmores, and juniors buy into what JT has been preaching and when the entire program has bought into a concept, it just dosen't go away in one off season.

Only time will tell, but the Buckeyes will have an explosive ground game with deadly options at reciever again, and a typical mean, fast, hard hitting defense.
