At best, you're getting two years of ARod (remaining big contract). Hell, you might only get one - he talks retirement every year.

The Jets might just be desperate/dumb enough to do it.

At this point.... why not kick the tires on LJ .... or at least go meet with him and look like you might go a different route.

I'd rather make an offer to Lamar Jackson before an ARod high-priced rental. Hell, I'd rather run Wilson out there, tank, and set myself to draft Drake May or Caleb Williams in 2024. Of course, that would probably get the GM and HC fired, so they won't do that.

ARod isn't committed to offseason work. The notion that he's going to show up at training camp and lead a magical run seems like a pipe dream. But it'll make Jets fans happy this summer.

Pack GM said a Rodgers return isn't an option.

So they can pound dirt asking for anything resembling a top 100 pick. They shot themselves in the foot with that bit of info right there. Zero leverage to work with when you have a disgruntled vet with a foot halfway out the door and a large cap hit on his contract.

They're waiting to see who blinks first, but it's tying their hands in free agency. Both have to leave room for ARod's contract until this ends.
