Fick's gonna win an NC with JT's recruits.

That would be fucking cool, if the NCAA doesn't take away the possibility.

Let's just run the damn table and make them do something about it.

It is the same. Fickell will continue coaching the D as he always has plus he will make the game decisions (punts, onside kicks, challenged calls etc...) He is a defensive guy and will trust the offensive coaches to make the offensive calls. I would be FLOORED if it was different.

I have a feeling that Fickell calls a lot of the plays. Keep in mind that although it appeared that Hazell was calling the plays last year, Tressel had approval over every single play.

As a player and position coach Fickell is a defensive guy. The only information most of us have that gives us ANY indication of what kind of head coach he's going to be is how he comes across in the news conference. People can argue all day long about what percentage of defensive coaches involve themselves in the offense, blah, blah, yadda...

For my part, basing this on the same thing everybody else is basing their own guess on; I expect that the first time Bollman calls "Dave" on 3rd and 7, Fickell says "Dave's not here, man" and turns off the headset.

I'll make you a 10-1 vBet that Fickell is involved in the play calling. Deal?

I will take that bet... I am only speaking from the perspective of having 10+ years coaching football and previously served as a coaching intern on that staff for a couple years.

"Time and change will surely show."

Always my favorite part of the game, but that song has extra meaning to me moving forward. This is going to be rough, but we are going to make it through and still be THE Ohio State University. I grew up mostly in the JT era, with a little of Cooper, so obviously JT's departure probably affected me more than the generation ahead of me. OSU and JT were just synonymous to me. After going to OSU though, I love this university and as Fickell said, this university is much bigger than one coach or player. This team is chalked full of talent and we can still have a great season. Moving beyond that, "time and change will surely show" that OSU is here to stay, no matter how hard the haters try to tear us down.

I agree with Carmen, I would love to see us run, run, run the ball. We have plenty of talent in the backfield and I think the OL is more suited to run the ball. And by run, that does not exclude Braxton, who could very well be the most talented runner on the team. I say Joey B. and Braxton split time, with Bauserman on a short leash. If Basuerman starts making many mistakes, it will be Miller time.
