Michigan Who?
I have recently designed a new Brutus logo that I just got copyrighted and was hoping to get some feedback on through this site.I'm a life long Buckeye and when they came out with this new Brutus logo a couple years ago I knew that something had to be done...lol.It was waaaaaaay to wimpy. So I toughened him up a bit and was planning on trying to contact the university and see if they would license it to be used in certain applications.Anyhow, feel free to leave some comments and maybe through your feedback we can get something done. Thanks and GO BUCKS!

Is this a scanned sketch or a digital file?

The hair is a bit unusual. It looks like he's balding. Is that a sideburn angling next to his eye?

Can you copyright something with someone else's logo on it?

The current incarnation of Butus is perfect - no need for a change.

Brutus Buckeye does not just represent the football team - he represents all teams and the entire university. He shouldn't be wearing a football uni, and he doesn't need to look mean.

Not to mention he has a bit of a Mr. Red thing going on, and I don't want Ohio State channeling the Cincinnati Reds in any way.

The hair line is funky looking. But other than that you did a very nice job.

The issue you will have is that it is FB specific. The Cartoonesque Brutus needs to be used for all sports, not just FB.

The Ohio State block "O" I added for touch, but the Brutus image itself I have copyrighted.I checked with the licensing dept and they said it did not meet their specifications of Brutus so I went ahead and got it copyrighted for my own use, but I'm still wanting to involve OSU.This is actually a digital enhancement of a sketch....and I kept him balding like the older Brutus was...lol.I amde the "sideburns" more angular I guess just for a more modern look.

I love the feedback..thanks. I was thinking of making him more university specific by adding another style of attire to him....muscle shirt and pants. As for the hair, I'm trying to keep his head a nut and not something with hair, per se, but it could be changed to if that would make it enhance it some. Thanks again for the comments.

He is a little bit lean... for a cartoon, which tend to exaggerate a bit. I like where it's headed...

The front knee (left side) has an odd shaped kneepad.

I see what you mean about the sideburn. I think that's a poor choice on OSU's part, but admittedly it might look empty without that there.

I'd also be curious to see how it looks without the fire/whoosh effect as he runs.

I like it...I'd expand the scowl so you don't have as much blank "face"
What if the face isn't quite as wide, but you get a little more of a side profile of the face?

The right side of the face is so strong... it needs to fill up more of the face imo.

What program did you use to make this? Photoshop? A painting program?

A vector version of this could be pretty interesting as well.

I look forward to seeing your revision, good stuff.

While I appreciate the artistic talent - since I have none myself - I'm not a big fan of the concept, for many of the reasons noted already. :)
