New boxes, new software! Having trouble logging in? Clear browser cookies!

You are now seeing BP on its new boxes. Beyond that, the 'bones' of the site are 100% different than they were before. The site has literally been rebuilt from the ground up, we're not using any of the files we were before. Everything is upgraded, updated, and is as current as all of it can get.

Deety (without whom this wouldn't have been possible, and the same goes for our good friend Matt (mrperfect here on BP, so fitting)) and I have tested, tweaked, and retested everything. I fully expect that some things aren't going to be working as expected once people really start playing with the nuts and bolts.

So PLEASE post in this thread if you come across something that you think is broken, and we will do our absolute best to fix it in reasonably short order. We're all going to be recovering from this process over the next few days, but I know Deety and I will be checking in regularly to look for bug reports.

Welcome to the new boxes. Not to sound too moochy, but I hope we have a great Spring Drive so we can actually pay for ours. I suspect we'll all discover that the site will just FLY on days when traffic is very high -- and we should even see a nice little boost in performance when it's not.

HAVING A PROBLEM WITH BEING LOGGED OUT IMMEDIATELY AFTER TRYING TO LOG IN?
--update2--
STEPS TO TRY IF YOU'RE STILL HAVING PROBLEMS:
Still having problems? Continue...
  • Make sure your browser is allowing cookies (it almost certainly is, unless you decided to turn that off -- in which case you're having to log in fresh everywhere you go, not just here.
  • Make sure you've cleared *all* your BP cookies going all the way back.
Still having problems? Continue...
  • If you ARE still having problems after all of that, please provide the following:
    • A description of exactly what happened (for example: "I entered my login and password, hit the button to submit, when the page reloaded I wasn't logged in anymore" OR "I was logged in, walked away for X minutes or hours and when I came back and clicked on something I was logged out.").
    • A description of what message you received, if you got one. Cinci mentioned a vbulletin notice telling him to clear his cookies. While I've never seen or heard of such a thing, it may well be in the system and I just don't know about it. Are we sure it wasn't just the temporary notice I had put in place underneath the navbar telling people to clear their cookies if they were having log-in problems?
    • What browser (and version) you're using so that others with the same who aren't having problems can compare settings.
  • Be patient with me, we will get you fixed. :)

There are some search options missing temporarily, so don't worry about reporting that.

BTW, I have no idea how Clarity figured out all that stuff in advance of the move but wow you should see him zoom through these things. Amazing. And Matt, you did a fantastic job of saving us all hours for me to Google every little thing.

I'm not sure we really need reports of borkenness today... maybe we should just lock it all and admire the pretty forums the way they are. :p

I see that sigs have been turned back on...

I like...

Looks like just about everything that's been posted in the last 24 hours or so didn't make the trip. Is that stuff on its way? My rep from that time is missing too - somebody out there's probably gonna throw a hissy fit about it before too long.

But, for some reason I can't log in in IE, but no problem in Chrome... just an observation...

I opened the site up on the old box this morning around 8-9am just because the upgrade process was far more brutal and time consuming than I had feared even in my worst moments before we started. When I did that, I posted an announcement (and accompanying post) saying that things may not make it over here.

They didn't. There was SO much database work, that trying to wedge in old data from an earlier verson of vB would just be too much effort at this point. So no, anything posted during the 10-11 hours that the 'old' site was up today is lost to the void, I'm sorry to say.

No biggie for me. It's not like anything important happened today. :)

Yep, the timing was bad with the tournament. Just didn't expect the process to be as bad as it turned out. But, we're here now, and the party is back on.

Hopefully people heeded my warning on the 'old' box and kept copies of posts they wanted to have over here.

I'm noticing an issue with signing in via Firefox vs. IE. Other than that it looks GREAT

On firefox, I sign in and either click the redirect link or let the browser do it, and I'm immediately signed out.

I am able to remain signed in with IE in the same scenario.

Still cookie issues... computer isn't sure where we really are. Should shake out.
