Check around at the Guard/Reserve and Active Duty (WPAFB) bases for any contracting or DoD openings. I got hooked on at Scott AFB back in '05 with a DoD job when I nearly seperated, but decided to re-enlist last minute. DoD jobs seem to be one of the few that are (relatively) immune to the economy. This probably isn't terribly appropriate here but I have to try something.

I need work. I have been unable to find a job since May now. I had a decent job and a house and was going to Ohio State until in April the army called me back and said I was going to Iraq for a year. So I cancelled my lease, left school, quit my job and moved my wife in with my family. Well I went to South Carolina to do my reprocessing with the army and after two weeks they said they didn't need me after all. Since then I have been living at my family's house and can't find a job. I have looked in every job site and newspaper under the sun and get very few responses and I have no idea what else to do. My cell phone has been shut off because I am out of money, I can't pay my car insurance, my dad is paying my car payment for me, I live in an unfinished room with no insulation electricity or water that I have to climb a 12 foot ladder just to get into the room because its on the second floor and doesn't have a doorway in yet. I need help.

I am a hard worker with a strong army background, tons of laboratory experience both as a bench worker and as a supervisor and I was even accepted into Mensa. I have an associate's degree from George Washington University and until my call back was closing in on a Bachelor's degree in molecular genetics from OSU. I am more than willing to relocate to find a good job in the medical field or security or just about anything at this point. I am looking at moving towards the east coast possibly down to Georgia but that isn't set in stone.

If anyone knows anything that can help or is in the position to hire people for their company please keep me in mind, I am a fast learner and willing to try odd and even dangerous jobs I just need a job. I have a resume if anyone thinks they can help just let me know. Thank you and sorry if this was a board faux paux.

I'm not in a good mental state right now to post on this without gett'in my ass tossed for about forever, so I'll be back tomorrow, or the next day,or whenever. But, in the meantime, hold this poster in your thoughts and prayers.

Keep looking soldier and never give up. Having been there not that long ago I will tell you that you should do everything you can to network, network, network. There are many groups out there that can be found online for your area or that are through local churches/parishes. You don't have to believe to be there. Also, doesn't Ohio have outsourcing services for its unemployed?

Looks like I got laid off last night. They did it the no balls way, email at 11:00 PM.

I got something lined up starting Sept 20th but was counting on getting paid until then.

Darnit.
