doesnt the caliber have the inglove box beer cooler? plus i think it has a cooled cup holder, perfect for those long duis.....

yes, it sure does BUT... the whole inside and I mean the WHOLE inside is plastic with rinky dink little plastic knobs... UGH! The dealer even had the nerve to tell me, "What do you expect when you are going from a Harley to a moped." Did I mention they also wanted me to pay 40 dollars more a month for the moped versus Harley? I think NOT!

I'm looking to lease a new car within the next couple months. I currently drive a Pacifica and want something a bit smaller and much easier on the gas. I spent last Saturday at the Chrysler/Dodge dealership and just wnated to scream after test driving the Caliber, Avenger and Nitro. Every single one was nothing but cheap plastic. I got a great deal on my Pacifica but apparently the only incentives tehy have right now are on minivans. UGH!

I am not hell bent on staying with Chrysler/Dodge, I just have a hook up for the family and friends discount, any ideas?????

Finally replacing the ol' minivan, eh?

Ryn, don't be too anxious to buy. Discounts and incentives will improve over the next few months, as they'll want to move the current inventory to make room for the '08 models. I also noticed that the cars you mentioned checking out were of the Dodge brand. If you want to avoid so many plastic parts, then you should take a look at the Chrysler or Jeep selections. Based on the Dodge vehicles you looked at, I'd suggest checking out the Chrysler Sebring and the Jeep Liberty, Jeep Compass, and Jeep Patriot models.

It has been decent... I love all the bells and whistles, comfy smooth ride... not near the gas mileage they claimed and a few electrical problems, the whole display for the AC, outside temp, rear AC unit, etc just blanks out, the systems still work, just can't always be sure what you are running... LOL...

Good idea to look at the Chrysler/Jeep products.. that Dodge line is just a bit too rollerskatish for me..

Saturn VUE Hybrid - 40MPG with the optimized model, certainly 25 mpg currently, nominally 20K.

Other Hybrids will be coming out - perhaps later this year -

Ford Escape lists at 30K - perhaps available for less once the new models stream in?

Toyota (of course) will have the best line of Hybrids SUV vehicles.
Planned for this year are these:
Estima , Alphard and Sienna. Estima is the first true hybrid minivan. Alphard is a larger version. Sienna is the one most likely to come to the States - 30-40 mpg, price unknown.

Maybe something like a Toyota RAV or a Honda CR-V would fall into your "soccer mom" category? Both have good room, utility, gas milege and safety. And both are reasonably priced. And the interiors of both look like up-market cars.
The Honda CR-V looks like the Volvo SUV. I like that.
