Really makes me feel good to read that - thanks! And, as you saw, Nebraska and its fans are just as honored to be in the B1G as you are to have us there. First class, indeed - indeed!

For the rest of the season...

Go Huskers! :neb2:

Go Buckeyes!:osu3:

Sure hope you get Braxton back next week.

Husker Fans always welcome!!! Now Wolverine fans? That's an entirely different situation!!!!

I too went to the game on Saturday. In all seriousness, what is wrong with you Huskers? You could not have been any nicer or accomodating to us. My friends and I were aware of your reputation for hospitality but what we experienced was above and beyond. There are so many examples that I could give but the best is this:

The minute we stepped into the stadium an attendant came up to us and asked us if we needed help finding our seats. We knew where we were going but accepted his offer anyway. We came in at the opposite corner of the stadium from the location of our seats but instead of walking us all the way around the stadium he takes us down to the field in a staff elevator and walked us across the field to our section. While we were down on the field he asked us if we wanted to hang out for awhile. To which we replied of course. He left us on the field unattended for probably 15 minutes before he came back to take us to our seats. Mind you we aren't a bunch of 80 year olds with walkers that need assistance, we are all in our early 30s and were obviously lit up from all the free drinks Nebraska fans had been feeding us. And this guy just let us hang out on the field like we were VIPs.

Another good one was I watched 3 Nebraska fans accoust another Nebraska fan for wearing a "Buck The Fuckeyes" shirt. Seeing a shirt like that on a nun in Columbus on gameday is acceptable here.

With the exception of the loss it was really an all around awesome experience. I feel an obligation to make sure I'm down on Lane next year when Nebraska comes to visit so that I can buy a couple rounds and make sure they are shielded from some of the a-holes they'll encounter.

I took my 6-year old to his first Buckeye game this past Saturday. Alot of my friends commented beforehand that they thought I was crazy to take a 6-year old to a college game but I had been to Lincoln two other times for college football games. The Husker fans were great and the guy sitting next to us at the game gave my son his slicker when it started raining. People kept on coming up to us and made a point to let my son know that they were sincerely glad that he was at the game.

I will always root for my Buckeyes but I will now also be rooting for the Cornhuskers!

We just treat our opponents the way we want to be treated. It's silly, but it really is that simple.

We met BP guest knapplc...

On a side note, MaliBuckeye stopped by...
Was this planned? Or did they wander up and in the ensuing conversation you figured out you were all Buckeye Planeteers?

Some wiseass in the front row got 5 in a row correct before the pressure got to him. They only gave me 2 free drink coupons for all of those answers...
If they would have known who you were beforehand, you'd have been declared ineligible. :wink2:

This thread needs to be brought back up about a week before the Nebraska game next year...

This is a great thought. We need to remember how great the fans are in Nebraska and show them the welcome they deserve.

Ugh. I hope it happens. I've only been going to away games the last few years. My last home game was a few years ago against Wisconsin. Granted, they suck hard as being the worst home place (with Penn State close) to visit, but there were a lot of drunken asses.

I'm glad Nebraska is bringing some class with them to the B1G. I'm proud to have them in our conference.

Been meaning to mention my experience at the Ohio State/Nebraska game, but work has been crazy for me. Can't sleep, so this seems like a good time.

I'm not sure if its a Nebraska thing or a University of Nebraska at Lincoln thing, but I'm leaning towards the former: they are just the most outwardly nice and pleasant folks in the country. Me and my father must have had a couple dozen folks just come up to us and start conversations. Most started with "Welcome to Nebraska!" or "Welcome to Lincoln!" or "How was your trip?" When we were lost trying to find a parking spot, one of the folks monitoring one of the many booster parking lots urged us towards a parking garage that wasn't too far from the stadium and trusted us to pull through his parking lot to get there.

Having been to a number of away games in the Big Ten (Wisconsin included), I had my guard up like I would visiting any other school and was ready for anything. The overwhelming positive attitude and hospitality COMPLETELY caught us off-guard, despite how gracious and nice we had heard Nebraska fans were. For instance, we sat in seats 1 and 2 along the aisles. THREE different times before the game and during the 1st quarter, random Nebraska fans came right up to me and shook my hand, welcoming us to Nebraska, hoping we enjoy our stay, and wishing us luck that night. Didn't know how to handle that. You don't see that. Anywhere.

There were some instances of bad sportsmanship by fans, but unfortunately, the vast majority I witnessed came from overzealous Ohio State fans in the visitors section when we had a commanding lead. It was embarrassing. Vulgar snippets at Nebraska fans sitting nearby that didn't deserve it. Starting the "Three Nation Army" chant way too early into the game. Things said with an outwardly cocky attitude out-loud for everyone to hear. Stuff like that. The ONLY thing negative thing I heard come from ANY UNL fan during the weekend was from a student walking in the other direction from us. After we passed by them, we heard him say "Looking for tattoos?? Huhh huhh huhhhh", which is the type of thing we must have heard a couple dozen or more times visiting Champaign last weekend and was amature compared to the shit we went through in Madison last year. And the kid that said that got bashed by his girlfriend for saying it immediately afterwards.

I've come to the conclusion that Nebraska simply has the best fans in college football, bar none. Their hospitality and general friendliness is other worldly. I highly recommend seeing a game there and getting there PLENTY early (at least a day early) to enjoy festivities in the Haymarket, tailgating, and talking football with the locals (who really know their shit). They are jacked as all-get-out about being a part of the B1G (not sure how many times we heard "I'm not sure why we didn't do this sooner") and I'm looking forward to visiting there in another 4 years when we get a chance to visit Lincoln again. Wish I could have met up with you guys Mali, but didn't get your PM until after I'd gotten back to Columbus.

And when our Husker brethren visit us next year, take some time out of your day to welcome them to Columbus. Shake their hand, ask them how their trip was, point out some neat things/sites to see while they're here, talk some college football over a drink, hope they have a good time while they're here, wish them good luck and welcome them back to Columbus for another game in the future. Heck, even show them around a bit. As a visiting fan, a little sunshine goes a long way, and Husker fans DEFINETLY paid it forward. Buckeye Nation needs to pay that hospitality back to them next year. They're great folks and are definetly worth getting to know.

It's been pointed out on numerous sites that the Nebraska fan base is one of the best in college football! And they are a fantastic addition to the Big Ten!

When they visit C-bus next year, OSU fans should return the outstanding treatment! I believe they will.

In response to this thread I'd like to jump back to my playground days, circa third grade: It takes one to know one.

You guys are aces, too. Every single Buckeye fan I met, from the guys from Buckeye Planet to the folks walking around Lincoln the day before the game, were just wonderful people.
