Nebraska Cornhuskers (corn)

SidehatchHusker;1868472; said:
It could actually be #1 depending on how you look at it.

Nebraska has always recruited nationally, so moving to the Big Ten should only change where the focus is.

Right now, it's heavy on Texas. I would expect that to shift a little to the Ohio/East coast region, but not as much as some people think.

And how would we have to look at it for it to be the #1 class in the Big Ten? Ignore the fact that Ohio State clearly has a better incoming class?

Recruit not happy about lack of contact

Charles Jackson is the only cornerback in Nebraska's 2011 recruiting class.
The morning after he signed his letter of intent, Jackson checked his Facebook page and saw a message from a stranger. Marvin Sanders, the message said, was leaving Nebraska.

Thursday afternoon, Nebraska made Sanders' departure official. Thursday night at 8, Jackson still hadn't heard from Sanders, Bo Pelini or anyone else at Nebraska.

"I think they should've told me before I signed," Jackson said. "I didn't have any idea. They broke the guy code."

Jackson, one of the nation's top cornerback recruits, looked forward to playing for Sanders, the former Blackshirt whose secondaries the past two years ranked among the best in the country.

Jackson hadn't spoken to Sanders in about three weeks, but Sanders talked to Jackson's dad "about two days ago," Charles said.

Sanders said nothing about leaving. Neither did anyone else from Nebraska. The news Thursday left Jackson with a lot to digest.

"I'm not in the happiest mood right now," said Jackson, a 5-foot-11, 180-pounder from Spring, Texas.

"I was pretty close with him. He was there one day, and then he just left. It was like, OK, Coach Sanders isn't going to be coaching me. Who's going to be coaching me"

Apparently, a few more coaching departures are expected. Should be interesting to see how everything pans out for the 'Huskers.

UNL has contacted Scott Frost to gauge his interest in coming back in a coaching capacity as well.

That recruit (Charles Jackson) and his father were contacted by Pelini and are 110% OK with the situation.

NU has officially lost 2 defensive coaches (1 promoted to DC at Indiana and the other resigned due to personal issues) and are about to lose 2 offensive coaches (holdovers from Bill Callahan's staff). Husker Nation is speculating all over the place as to who is going to replace them.

Scott Frost has turned down the Husker's offer as of today. He wants the O-coordinator position and Pelini won't give it to him. I agree with Pelini on this one..

Pelini confirms changes to coaching staff

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska coach Bo Pelini has confirmed the reorganization of his coaching staff, making Tim Beck his offensive coordinator and announcing three new assistants.

Pelini told the Associated Press on Wednesday that he has hired Indiana assistant Corey Raymond to coach the secondary, Ohio assistant Ross Els to coach linebackers and Massachusetts prep school coach Rich Fisher to coach wide receivers.

Pelini declined to say whether former offensive coordinator Shawn Watson and former receivers coach Ted Gilmore resigned or were fired. Pelini announced former secondary coach Marvin Sanders' resignation for personal reasons in a statement two weeks ago.

Beck, who had been running backs coach, will work with the quarterbacks as well as direct the offense. Ron Brown, who had been coaching tight ends, is now in charge of running backs.

Pelini said he has one more position to fill but declined to name what the role would be.

Nebraska's Crick out for spring with knee injury

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- Nebraska coach Bo Pelini says defensive tackle Jared Crick will miss the rest of spring practice because of a knee injury.

Pelini said Tuesday that Crick should be full speed in a few weeks and will participate in the Cornhuskers' offseason program. Pelini said there's no reason to rush him back onto the field this spring.

Crick, who was injured Monday, made 70 tackles last season and led the team with 9 1/2 sacks.

Big Ten Love For Nebraska Is Here

By Bart Doan

Nebraska Cornhusker football. If that doesn?t reach out and scream Big 10, well than you?re just tone deaf to the beautiful music of college football.

It feels clean being able to talk about this now, because something felt a little filthy as the league was stealing the Big Red away from the Big 12. Though not as filthy as claiming Nebraska basketball while they were getting pile driven by half the Missouri Valley Conference.

Now that basketball season is in the past, it feels okay to welcome them fully to the party.

Nebraska is made for the Big 10, image and otherwise. They embody an ideal that the heavyweights of the conference cherish: football, and everything else being an necessary evil to eat up time between football.

The Huskers play a style of football that also fits in nicely with the conference: Smash mouth, student-body right, student-body left, just-try-to-stop-us football.

Over the years Nebraska has also provided our sport with a who?s who list of leaders and legends. Yes, we know ? but for now, it fits.

The Huskers also have smart, knowledgeable football fans. And they?re respectful to an insane degree ? they stand and applaud at Memorial Stadium when you beat them.

Off the field, Nebraska leads the nation with a staggering 277 academic All Americans ? bet you didn?t know that. Don?t think it went unnoticed by the Big 10 school presidents. This fits in nicely with Big 10 ideals.
