Nebraska Cornhuskers (corn)

Love how ESPiN and all the other sports "reporters" make this an issue when we haven't even heard of the Alabama scandal once. Bo was on his way out in Neb anyway so whats the big deal. Sure the guy wins 9-10 games a season but loses every single big game he's been in. Hope Nebraska gets the coach they deserve as they need to be good the following years as their division will be the easiest and OSU needs a decent team to pound in the B1G champ game every year as douchebag Michigan won't make it. Hope this gets resolved soon. Also, Tuesday day drinking is underrated. Love having Tuesdays off and beating the crap out of my Michigan loving friend in NCAA 14 football. tOSU-5 Fuck Michigan-0

One of the most epic posts I've seen in a while. LOL

Fabian Washington was on Sirius XM a few minutes ago. Here's what he said:

Fabian: "I'm disappointed in Bo. He was wrong with what he said."
Fabian: "It's gonna be tough to come back from."
Fabian: "The team needs to tackle better. Veterans need to step up and be the leader of that team. And, at times, (hesitating a bit) it could be some better playcalling."

BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE

Fabian: "When I played for Bo, you were allowed to make mistakes, because that's how you get better."
Fabian: "We need to fix whatever is going on."

Which most of the fan base was also calling for at the time. It was a poor time to be fickle.

I still blame Chris Brown, Bobby Purify, and the entire 2001 Colorado Buffs football team on the day after Thanksgiving 2001. After that, the program hasn't been the same.

It's like a nagging chronic injury that keeps coming back up.

Yeah - Freaking Steve PEEEEDERSON. He sabotaged the program for years by firing Solich.
I know I'm not telling you anything new, but the trickiest part of the NU job is, the lack of a local recruiting base. This is a down year for Ohio high school football, and still, according to Scout there are 19, four star recruits this year. The state of Nebraska has zero this year. I know about the tradition, the great facilities, and the great quality of life in Nebraska, but you don't have palm trees, or movie stars to help bring in 20 out of state studs.

NU message boards have talked about firing Bo since the day he was hired. Also think about it, only a truly creepy, son of a bitch would have recorded Pelinni's behind closed doors conversation, keep it for two years and then make it pubic after a blowout loss. With friends like that at NU, why bother?

If you look at the 3 losses they had in 2003 when Solich was fired, they were:

41-24: Missory
31-7: TexPn
38-9: K-State Kitties

110-36. That's why he was fired.

Here's the losses by Bo in 6 seasons in 2 sections:

First, with Callahan's players:
35-30: VT
52-17: Missory
37-31: Tech
62-28: Sooners
16-15: VT (second time)
31-10: Tech (again)
9-7: Cyclones
13-12: TexPN (championship game)
20-13: TexPN
9-6: Slob Job at A&M
23-20: Sooners (championship game)
19-7: Fake Locker's last game

PA/PF
326-196

Now, with his OWN players:
48-17: Bucky (Fuck Bucky)
28-25: NW
45-17: TSUN
30-13: Ol' Ball Coach
36-30: UCLA
63-38: Braxton Miller. By his damn self, basically.
70-31: Bucky (Fuck Bucky)
45-31: UGA
41-21: UCLA (again)

PA/PF
406-223

See the trend? Horrible defense, poor offense.

In today's college football, I can't say that he can't be successful if he's not getting 4 and 5 star recruits. Can't. Why?

Beavis O'Buttchin went 8-4 with a team stripped of it's leading rusher, a punk at QB, and a bunch of guys that left, and very few scholarship athletes

Again, you are correct. Did PSU go to the B1G title game? (no) Did NU go to the B1G title game? (yes) Were NU fans calling for Bo's job, even before they played the B1G title game? Of course they were, because playing for less than a national title is unacceptable.

Also, You can click on this link and go all the way back to 2002 looking at the PSU recruiting classes. Most of their classes came from within a five hour drive of the PSU campus. In 2011, PSU signed 3 five star kids from relatively close by. NU coaches don't have that luxury.

I don't think it's the loss that is the problem. It's the way the losses are coming that is the problem. That will always have an effect on recruiting.

The program used to be tailored to the recruiting base, and the recruiting base to the program. Those Nebraska kids ran the option from the time they were in diapers. All that changed when Solich got fired and Nebraska stopped playing option football. The farm system dried up.

Your program struck gold with Osborne and since then has been an afterthought. But don't mind me--you and your "school" can go back to more important things like losing its AAU accreditation, having its alums get into public pissing matches with its head coach, bringing to light 2-year old tirades now that the head coach is persona non grata due to the team getting its shirts handed to it by a middling UCLA team, and engaging in other clownish antics that must have the other Big Ten ADs regretting the day your "school" was allowed in. Keep on living in the past man, keep on.

You seem to hate Nebraska an awful lot to let an "also ran" get you so upset. Nebraska is a great traditional football program. Move on.

Re: Confronted by the Omaha World-Herald following his annual state-of-the-university address, chancellor Harvey Perlman sidestepped questions about Pelini and the growing brouhaha.

“I’m not going to talk about football today,” Perlman told the paper, adding, “We’re disappointed and we are reflecting on the situation.”

When asked how long said reflection will take, Perlman stated, “Until we decide not to.”

The reason I was "so upset," in your words, was deleted. But thanks for arriving to the party a few hours late and still tossing in your uninformed two cents. Move on.

Nebraska's problem is that it is Nebraska. It doesn't get top recruits, and it's best days are behind it, a fact that will prevent it from getting a marquee coach. Nebraska fans should be happy with 9-3 seasons because I don't see it getting much better, whether with Pelini or without him.

So, what has changed in Nebraska over the last 12-15 years which prevents it from getting top recruits and marquee coaches?
