Nebraska Cornhuskers (corn)

STOCK UP/STOCK DOWN:

STOCK UP...
TOMMY ARMSTRONG, JR. — NEBRASKA QUARTERBACK

In his 14th season as the Cornhuskers' quarterback, Armstrong has had a solid start to the season leading Nebraska to a perfect 5-0 record to start.

Armstrong's 153.8 rating is third in the Big Ten as are his 1,151 passing yards. He has thrown nine touchdown passes this year against just two interceptions and in Saturday's 31-16 victory against Illinois, Armstrong threw for 220 yards and a score.

Don't rule out Nebraska being undefeated when it comes to Columbus on Nov. 5

I nominate this for the dumbest article of the year. No way does Nebraska want back in the Big 12.

Oh, but there's more:

"#Nebraska believes they would have access to significant TV money in a new #BIGXII with Texas. #BYU #Hou and #Cincinnati would join"

2015 article: In 2017, when Nebraska will finally be on equal financial footing with the core Big Ten schools, the school's annual revenue from the conference could well swell to between $40 million and $50 million a year.

Such a figure is astounding compared with four years ago, when the Big 12 paid NU $9 million.

The university in 2017 also gains a full ownership share in the Big Ten's TV network, which analysts have valued at more than $1.3 billion. ...

Nebraska agreed to wait six years to gain a full share of Big Ten revenue. It received $14 million the first year, $15 million last year and will receive no more than $16.9 million this year — each figure roughly $10 million short of a full share.

Big Ten Conference revenues rise 33% in one year

With the addition of Maryland and Rutgers in July 2014, the Big Ten Conference began seriously flexing its financial strength, the conference’s new federal tax return shows.

The conference had $448.8 million in total revenue during a fiscal year ending June 30, 2015 — a figure that represents a nearly $110 million increase over what it pulled in during its 2014 fiscal year.

As a result, the conference distributed roughly $32.4 million to each of its longest-standing 11 members, amounts that put those schools on par with amounts theSoutheastern Conference distributed to each of its 14 member schools from conference revenue that totaled $527.4 million.

In 2017 Corn will get $40 - $50M and own an equal share of the BTN. They "paid their dues" that last few years and now are inline to "reap the rewards". Why would they be interested in leaving the B1G?

The thread on BWI about this was awesome.
https://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threads/nebraska-wants-out-of-the-b1g.149282/

Many of them are convinced its going to happen, going so far as to ridicule the comments in the article saying it's NOT going to happen.
They're also convinced that it would open the door for other teams (like Penn State) to leave.

If I were in any type of position of power, where my opinion mattered, I'd say to any team that chose to leave, "Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out." I'd also consider booting Michigan for leaving in 1907.

I like the way, by page 3 they are just making up shit that they think Delany would do so they can get pissed off about it.

If Nebraska leaving opens the door for Penn State, losing Nebraska is a sacrific I'd be willing to make.

Mike Riley: Tommy Armstrong in concussion protocol, is day-to-day

619117882-e1478549691142.jpg

Nebraska had quite a scare on Saturday night in Columbus, and it had nothing to do with the scoreboard as the Buckeyes were decimating the Cornhuskers in Ohio Stadium. Quarterback Tommy Armstrong was taken by ambulance off the field and to a nearby hospital after being knocked out after hitting the ground hard. It was a welcome sight to see Armstrong return to the sidelines in street clothes, but the Huskers quarterback is not quite cleared to play just yet.

On Monday, Nebraska head coach Mike Riley said Armstrong is going through concussion protocol. That makes his status for this week’s game against Minnesota “day-to-day.”

Any doc that would clear him and any coach that would play him are toeing the line of criminal negligence.

But hey, Hoke got away with it. But in his case I guess stupidity is was a fine alibi.
