Game Thread Nebraska Cornhuskers at tOSU, Oct 6th, 8 ET, ABC/ESPN/2

Anyone else think this is a game for Shazier to shine? He's so damn fast and strong, if he gets his reads right he's the perfect anti-Burkhead/Martinez.

We've had some great secondary play (Roby/Orhian/Howard) and obviously great D-Line play (Williams/Hank/Simon). If we could get a LB to really step up, this game will go well for the Buckeyes.

Martinez, albeit a streaky passer, is dangerous when the secondary cheats up. Don't want to give up any big plays.

One thing Nebraska won't do is bootlegs. They usually just have Martinez in the shotgun, or take a 7 step drop and deliver the ball. Never understood that, but it is what it is.
Wow, I thought with the way Martinez can hurt you with his feet that bootlegs would right away be part of the offensive package. That's surprising.

Roasting a pig all day Sat. starting at 9am. Should be pretty smashed for kickoff and may need to be because this game really worries me for some reason. Our LB's are going to have to have a huge game with the option reads. Think we win this but think it will be a squeaky one. Going to have to get a few turn overs and not fall flat on offense for quarters at a time. 17-14 tOSU because it's at the shoe.

I hope we do but my gut feeling is that we don't win this one. Not yet sold on our defense showing up for 2 straight games. If this was the Buckeye defense of old, I would say we win and win big. Also, I'm hoping to see more progression in Braxton's throwing.

This isn't the Martinez from lat year. He's no Dysert, but he can hold his own. Other than that, I agree with everything else

caught a little bit of the Neb-Wisky game. Martinez still one-hops his balls in the pocket on third down situations. Don't mean to come across as being cocky here, but just don't see it.

He's also 12 in the nation in passing efficiency and beats Braxton Miller in every passing category.

That being said, if we can get a turnover early, that should help.

I think this game will be a repeat of last year in some ways. Lots of offense, and mediocre defense by both sides. The ULCA blackshirts, and the Cal silver bullets show up, making Martinez, Burkhead, Hyde, and Braxton look like a game of NCAA '13.

However, being in Columbus, you have to think that benefits the bucks. Additionally, Nebraska is a run-first team. I believe that really benefits the Buckeyes, coming off the deconstruction of Le'Veon Bell (sp?).

38-31, Ohio State.

And yet he was 54% against UCLA & 58% against Wisconsin, neither of which are that strong defensively.

He had OOC inflated stats last september too. Reality settled in during B1G play, also starting against Wisconsin (who was similarly challenged on D last year).
