Game Thread Nebraska Cornhuskers at tOSU, Oct 6th, 8 ET, ABC/ESPN/2

Am I the only one that feels about as confident as they did about the MSU game even at home?

All I hear from Husker fans is how they can't contain a mobile QB.

Last year, had Guiton been coached up or Miller not been injured, we would have walked away with a W.

We've seen their gameplay in person, they haven't seen ours.

I have faith we can shock the world

Nebraska doesn't have a Dline like MSU. If the OLine plays like they did last Saturday, easy win. But the OSU D needs to play the same way it did this Saturday. Tackle and wrap up the cornholios. We just need to see what Taylor shows up... I'm sure our NE fans will bring their unbiased opinion, which is really weird. One of the reasons I root for Nebraska in other games. They are smart and non rapey.

I believe this game is a race to 40. They run an offense that could give us fits with tackling and while Martinez certainly isn't a good passer, he has improved enough to keep us at least a little bit honest. Assuming our d line dominates the LOS, I am confident we will win. But they have enough weapons on the perimeter to make us nervous.

Nebraska is a scrappy team. They showed it last year against us and on Saturday against UW coming back from a large deficit both times. That being said, I think we turned a corner on Saturday against MSU and we win this one
against another good opponent. Definitely time for some payback.

My Sunday take:

Our OL is better than their DL.
Our DL is better than their OL.
Their offense is better than ours, in terms of multiple weapons.
Their defense will not be phased by Braxton, having seen Martinez week in and week out. They also won't blink about our "no huddle".
Their offense will test our LBs and DBs on the edges- which has been a nightmare at times.
We have to worry about Martinez' passing. Problem is, so do they.
They're streaky, and get better as the game progresses.
We're young, but growing. They've got experience, but can be inconsistent.
We're still not totally healthy. We also haven't unleashed every wrinkle that we have.
We're at home, at night, where they won't be able to feed off their crowd. They also haven't been all that successful as visitors.

This will be a close game, and the one I had pegged as a loss at the beginning of the year. Ohio State's giving 4.5 points in Vegas, it would be tempting to take Big Red at that spread.

But, I believe in Urban Meyer and this team. Go Bucks.

If we can keep them off the edge, we will win. Martinez is a dangerous runner, as is Burkhead. But those guys aren't going to gouge us between the tackles like they can on the edge. We've struggled making those plays on the edge with our LBers, which is a reason I think we've been in the coverage schemes we've been in. Against MSU, Roby made some BIG tackles/disruptions when MSU tried to get to the edge.

Should be interesting to see how we defend that.

This is true. We've had trouble with this since the beginning of the Bo Era. Not a lot of reasons to think we've suddenly figured this out.

I'm not sure what you mean by this.

I don't think it would be much of a shock if you won, and won big.

Slightly OT, but I wish they would have actually given Kenny a chance in that game. Instead, we got vintage Bauserbombs.

Nebraska is susceptible to the big play (See: UCLA game/Wisconsin game) and the Buckeyes have big play capability (Braxton, obviously, and Philly/Devin). I think you give them a steady dose of Hyde, then try to catch them by getting Braxton outside on either the option or a sprint-out pass.

I feel confident about this one, if the coaches drill "NO TURNOVERS" into Braxton and co this week, this should be a nice 31-20 win.

GO BUCKS!:oh:

If Nebraska needs bulletin-board material, Nathan Williams provided it with his quote on opposing teams running the ball (after Saturday's win over Michigan State).

"I hope Nebraska looks at this tape and realizes they can't run on us."

Guess it's up to the defense to back up the talk.

Still remember the USC night game where the South Stands felt like they were shaking.

I think he was refering to Nebraska's offensive gameplan, comparing what we just played against this week (the Leveon Bell show) to Rex Burkhead and Co. Thing is, we haven't faced a mobile QB the caliber of Martinez yet this year. You guys are a different animal than the team we just faced.

Really looking forward to this one, if for no other reason than to talk with Nebraska fans before, during, and after the game. Went to the game in Lincoln last year with my father, and Nebraska fans are nothing but class, make some outstanding grub, and REALLY know the game. Looking forward to returning the hospitality we were shown last year and looking forward to going down there again the next time we play in Lincoln. Cheers.
