Watching the corntards last night, I was struck by how fragile Martinez looks. Robinson couldn't make it through a full Big Ten season healthy, and I really see can't envision Martinez surviving past the Wiscy/Ohio State games.

Corntards? Really??

I was at the game. Electric. The Martinez you saw was not who he was earlier in the year. Obviously he was slowed by injury, but it was also obvious he was incredibly shaken out there which is opposite of the terminator-like attitude he had displayed all season.

For the life of me, I can't believe he wasn't pulled for at least a series to calm him down. He would lock onto his first receiver and either throw into coverage or brace himself for a sack. No pocket presence, no second or third reads...just panic. They threw that 5 yard slant probably 8-10 times. OU was jumping the route after the 4th attempt. Where's the adjustments? Try a pump fake and fly route off that pattern? Try SOMETHING different.

Nebraska should be back to back Big XII Champions right now, but our offensive coaches continue to get owned in big games.

Any idea(s) on your part as to why such a different person?

I couldn't agree more. I'm still befuddled. Who is the OC? Like I said elsewhere, they should have just let Rex run the O.

Being a freshman, I think he might have froze under the big lights of a championship game. I watched him in warmups and he looked great. Hugging players, pumping up the crowd. He looked ready. I think the injury is messing with his head as well. Like previous posters have said, he will not survive the schedule next year running as much as he does. He's going to have to learn to play through injuries. I don't know if he ever had to do that in high school. This is big boy football now.

Shawn Watson is our OC. Callahan brought him in from Colorado and Pelini retained him during the coaching change. Thought was the defense needed so much attention that retaining the OC would buy him some time to focus there. Watson was the architect of the 62-36 beatdown of Eric Crouch and the #1 Huskers back in 2001. He's a west coast offense guy that is trying to evolve into a spread/zone read option running game with WCO passing principles. It's not working against even decent defenses. Most of Husker Nation is ready for him to move on.

Not following UNL ball like I thought I would this year, was T-Mart whooping any ass against decent teams or was it Denard Robinson like in that he performed well against sub-standard teams? I seriously don't know, so I hope you realize I don't mean it as a slight.

It definitely appears that someone else needs to come in. The offense playcalling was not fun to watch .

T-Magic was superman against bowl teams Washington, KState, Oklahoma State, and Missouri. After getting hurt at Missouri, he changed into the player you saw against OU.

He had his off games too, but overall, he was a weapon to be accounted for before his injury. Probably the biggest playmaker NU has had since Crouch. I would compare him quite a bit to Dennard Robinson, except Martinez's team had a stout defense whereas Robinson's did not. Actually, I think Robinson may be a little better at this point, but it's close.

I think that T Mart just needs time to learn the position better. He was recruited as an athlete and started fall camp as a safety.

Nebraska's 2011 Schedule

Sep 10 Fresno State
Sep 17 Washington
Sep 24 at Wyoming
Oct 1 at Wisconsin
Oct 8 Ohio State
Oct 22 at Minnesota
Oct 29 Michigan St
Nov 5 Northwestern
Nov 12 at Penn State
Nov 19 at Michigan
Nov 26 Iowa

That's no welcome mat ...

I dunno. They should be three and oh by the time they hit Madison. They get the Bucks in Lincoln, odds probably put them at 3 - 2 at this point. Win at Minnie. Another loss to the Spartans, but then it could easily be four straight wins to finish the season. It's not like they can't play defense.

I don't know about giving them a W for the Washington game. Those two teams aren't real familiar with each other. Who knows what could happen.

Why would you expect Washington to be better next year? I'm not hearing anything of substance out of the Huskie faithful that lends itself to them thinking huge changes after Locker's gone.

I'm trying to figure out if you're being serious or sarcastic. :) If the former, then you're forgetting that these two teams played each other less than 3 months ago. Nebraska won by 35. Also, now, 2 of the next 3 games Nebraska plays are against Washington. 3 times in 12 months, it doesn't get much more familiar than that! :wink2:
