ND 34, TSUN 38 (Final)

At least one team will lose. Hope it's Notre Dame. We can take care of scUM later ourselves.

Although the sudden resurgence of confidence in AA has been nauseating.
Sorry 'bout that. We'll try and get a bunch more wins so it doesn't look like there's nothing to be confident about  I know that can be annoying.

Notre Dame and defense have been kind of mutually exclusive for a long time, but Tenuta is a damn good DC and they have recruited talent. I think they'll start to see some returns this year.

In this game, they have the offense to exploit scUM's D and as I stated above, of the two, I think ND has a better chance of actually fielding a decent defense this year.

I think ND wins comfortably, despite my pick in the pick 'em thread.

If ND spits the bit, I think Charlie's a lame duck.

I dislike both teams

but Notre Dame is going to destroy scUM

the false sense of comfort by the scUM fans created by a win over a MAC team with no defense will be gone after this one is over

Floyd and Tate clown on that secondary

im sure Notre Dame's defense wont miss 2348723487235 tackles like WMU did and give up a bunch of cheap rushing yardage on broken plays

somewhere along the lines of Notre Dame 38 scUM 14

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this, but how does this pay out if ND wins by 3 points or less? We have a -3.5 point spread for ND, but it looks like no spread for Michigan. I'm assuming a +3.5 points for Michigan.

If the final score is ND 28-24. People who bet on Notre Dame win.
If the final score is ND 27-24. People who bet on M*ch*gan win.

Since I don't think that you're trying to be a smartass, I will thank you for your assistance.

But, I know how betting works and that's not how it reads. It reads that Notre Dame has to win by 3.5 or Michigan has to win straight up. What I should have done is looked at the other vBet threads and realized that the spread is only listed for one team and the opposite spread is assumed for the other team. That's not how the betting site that I use does things, I guess our vBookies just assume that we/I could put it together without having everything spelled out...I'm retarded.

Two games ago, ND was a 6-6 team and Weis was coaching for his job. "Impressive" wins over a couple of mediocre WAC teams later and the Irish are a BCS title contender?

Seven days ago, scUM was a laughing stock coming off a 7-42 loss to their blood rival. It's funny to me.

I still don't think we'll know much about either team come Saturday night. I think ND is the "more realistic" contender for being "improved" because they have legitimate, proven weapons on offense and a proven DC in Tenuta who has talent to work with. scUM, on the other hand, ran up numbers on a baaaaad WMU defense and has a very thin defense. I know Nevada isn't exactly much either, I just think with what we saw from Tate and Floyd for ND last year, and Chuckie's history with 3rd year QB's and stud WR's, they're in a better position. scUM still has two true frosh QB's and no proven gamebreakers at WR. Maybe they're both for real, but I need to see more.

To hell with both of them. :wink2:

I watched most of the 2nd and 3rd qtr of the WMU game and it still looks as though the execution is not as crisp as it should be with either QB behind center.

Also, the missed tackles by WMU was a big reason for the lopsided score. I don't think NoD will be that lacking in tackling 101.

Close game to start, but I see a 2nd half rout for NoD.

That's hilarious.

Last year we lost 35-17. We fumbled a kickoff away, and dropped another one as well as a punt. The offense also fumbled twice - once on the Irish 5, and one that was returned for a touchdown. Nick Sheridan threw two interceptions to run the turnover count to five, not including the dropped kicks that gave us field position inside our 10.

The dysfunctional offense that managed 3.9 yards a carry last year and was run by two wildly inaccurate quarterbacks managed 17 points. Notre Dame had two scoring drives of less than 15 yards and a defensive touchdown.

Brandon Minor and Carlos Brown were held out for most of the game with injuries.

I would dearly love to know how having two functional quarterbacks and two healthy running backs means we'll score fewer points and give up more. Perhaps we'll drop five kicks instead of just three?
