NCAA09 PS3 Big Ten-Pac Ten Dynasty (Official Thread)

OK, it's time for me to bitch.

I didn't want to drop the MAC. I was having more fun with that league than the other one. I thought the point of the MAC was to play with crappy teams, since we could all play with good teams in Piney's. Yet that's the same reason people wanted out. I jumped for joy when I got 2 4* kids to come to Temple....that was the fun part. I know Temple sucks and I didn't expect to win every game, but I made them more fun to play with.
Before you say it....I wasn't about to be the only guy who said no and prevented everybody else from doing what they wanted to do.

Switch to a Pac10/Big10 dynasty....with sliders that make you want to jump off a fucking building. Wow....this is fun. Now I can play with a team just as good as my team in Piney's league...except I have to play against human opponents who are 50 times better than me. Why are they 50 times better than me? Because they've all found the little exploits that make playing this game not fun. I could drop back 40 yards with my QB and throw a ball to a WR who eventually gets open because nobody can cover for 20 seconds. That's not fun to me. I could bring up some funky ass defensive formation and move my fastest guy to safety and just run around in the backfield. That's just not fun to me. It's fucking stupid. What's the point?

So what happens in the first week? Everybody finds out the sliders are kind of stupid. And they're changed. After the first week. Because consistency is apparently not important. Fuck....let's change up the sliders in the middle of the season again. Then...let's have people switch teams from one conference to the other after the first week. Why the hell not. It's not like we had any kind of smooth consistency with the MAC league. Oh wait....we did.

I don't like this shit at all. It's not fun when I have to play a flat out flawless game just to be in it, and the second I make a mistake it's turned into a TD by my opponent. WOOD had 1 turnover against me....and that's because I switched to the DB and picked it off myself. Other than that....he just took anything he wanted. I had 2 or 3 INTs against him. They weren't awful throws. One was to an open man.....except for that MLB that can cover the entire fucking field. You know the one.....he's the one that's never on my fucking team. Yes, I suck at this game. But this is just not fun. When I sucked with Temple at least I was having fun.

Wait....didn't you beat me? Yeah, I believe so. :!

Since fanatic mentioned this...

I haven't seen anyone do this either. And if you do see people doing this let me know (or Iron). And really I have not seen people move WRs to CBs/S. The only person that I know that runs a funky defensive scheme and that is buchtel, but he uses his regular defensive guys so I don't see that as cheesing. But there are ways to beat that as you did and a few other people.

The only thing that could be considered cheesing (not saying that I do) is the amount of people that use WRs as RBs, or playing RBs at FB.

But basically, especially in my dynasty. It is just that people have recruited speed at all those positions so it just seems like people have moved WRs to DBs.

I consider that cheesing if someone puts a WR at RB in their depth chart. Same with putting a RB at FB there. However, if they just do a lineup change at the playcall screen, that's not cheesing. That's part of the game. It's like putting in your backup QB for option plays because he's faster than the starter, or swapping WRs because you want your fastest receiver going deep. I know I use the Dual RB option alot on passing plays.

Wow, lots of bitching.

So cheesing is when a QB is getting pressured and I drop back 15 yards or so and keep going towards the sideline because there is no where else to go. I sit there for a second and I see an open guy, throw the ball and I catch it with a user catch between 2 defenders. Maybe next time I should just run out of bounds or throw the ball away. I dont switch players from WR to RB or any of that shit. Also I have no idea what he is talking about CBs running around in the backfield, maybe I misread.

In regards to whobe, I almost always control my DE at the start of a play. I sometimes will immediately drop him back in coverage if I think i see something.

And last but not least, its a fucking video game. Its not supposed to be realistic. I hate losing just as much as the next guy. And I do lose, all the time to people not named BN27.

I do that, as well.

Guilty conscience? Nobody called you out, but since you volunteered (to be a dick)....

You drop your QB back 15 yards and move to the side of the field where nobody is. That's shit. Do you see that in real life? I play like I see the game played on TV because that's fun. That play where you dropped back 20+ yards and then bombed it to somebody literally 20 seconds after the ball was hiked was just total bull shit.

It was not 20 yards. thats right I never see broken plays in real life, did you watch Rothleisberger (no idea how to spell his last name) last night?

Also how did you not call me out? You go on BP and bitch immediately after our game.

I switched my WR Ernst to RB in the other league and honestly I dont see the issue with that or the dual RB. WR and RB are skill positions where the point in real life is to outrun or run over your opponent to the endzone. With Ernst I am not running over anyone so I try to outrun them. I also run outside 75% of the time which makes me pretty predictable. Dual RB is pretty similar, there is only one ball to run with so if a RB is lead blocking for another RB versus a FB lead blocking, it wont be nearly as effective. Now moving stupid speed to QB I get, but outside of that this game is realistic enough that one users exploit can be guarded, most of the time.

Give or take certain situational flaws in the game (certain routes by WR) I think the leagues are just fine from my experience.

I'm sorry about the MAC Dynasty. I started it so we could play each other more than what Piney's dynasty offered. I also wanted it to be lower tier teams, because it's harder to exploit the game with crappy teams. You're right. People didn't want to play as the MAC teams anymore (even if they didn't come right out and say it). The reason that I changed the format was because of multiple bitching on multiple fronts. The general theme of your post is "no fun". I think that would have been ultimate demise of the MAC Dynasty if we didn't make the switch anyway.

Continuity and some kind of flow is what I'm trying to get to for this Dynasty too. Moving buchtel after week one was more about getting the two conferences the same number of teams, without giving a late comer an opportunity that wasn't there for the guys that were there for the start of this dynasty.

I'm not going to go down your list about people finding exploits, and that being a major reason that I keep having to dick with these sliders, because I agree with you. I think that people know what's going on, but also have the same affliction as you and Piney not wanting to be the only guys to say no to the switch. Sometimes being part of something like BP prevents people from saying something that may make others upset with them. I don't believe that anyone is doing anything blatant, but do think that I've had just about enough of fucking with sliders. I'm seriously considering just going back to the original all-american sliders and letting people do their silly shit vs. the CPU, and not worry about it anymore. I honestly don't know how that's any fun. I played the SEC title game against a very good LSU team, and for the sake of experiment got over 1,000 total yards out of Shelton in that game. Yeah, I can do it too, but it just isn't any fucking fun, and it sure as hell didn't help me get ready for the NCG that I have to play against buchtel.

Did you see Roethlisberger dropping straight back 20 yards? Go ahead and scramble and keep the play alive.....but dropping backwards that far isn't scrambling. It's taking advantage of a flaw in the game.

One thing I have seen people do (not sure if it was in this league, or just general on-line play) is moving the DE off the line to middle linebacker.

I really can't remember if that happen in this league, but if it has that is pretty shady. If not, then I am just making a pointless point

I don't think that I consider any these to be cheesing.

We've advanced to week 3.

Played my week 3 game against Oklahoma. I didn't have a prayer of stopping their running game. I stacked the box and they would break 5 tackles. I simmed the 4th after I realized it didnt make sense to try and stop their running game. I find myself pausing halfway through each game to go do something else and coming back to it.

I am definitly looking forward to getting into the human games
