NCAA09 PS3 Big Ten-Pac Ten Dynasty (Official Thread)

I was in a similar situation in the other league and I think its because I was recruiting too many. How many offers do you have out?

I'm not sure. Right now, I'd say about 15. However, I offer right away. It's worked in the past. With last year's Army recruiting failures coupled with this year's failures at Ucla, I'm pretty sure I'm doing it wrong. I usually spend all my time on the top 12 to 15 on my board.

Nah, I was pounding X on that one. I had a fumble against Piney called back on a facemask in the other dynasty. That one pissed me off bad. It was right at my five yard line and he punched it in for six on the very next play.

Just waiting on Piney to play his game against Or St. Buchtel is on auto until we hear from him, so people can go ahead and play, without worrying about setting something up.

Was just giving him the most time to come back from wherever he has gone (Hoping he is ok)

But will play the game tonight so we can advance.

Ucla locked up an invitation to the Rose Bowl with a 34-31 squeaker over U$C. The bowl projections show a Ucla - Wisky matchup, with Wisky's invite being the result of an At-Large Bid. Ohio State's playing Oklahoma in the Make-Your-Jokes-Now National Championship Game.

On a related note, this game was at Ucla. Thankfully, with my struggles recruiting, I was able to bring some visits into this heated rivalry game to witness...

What? This game doesn't allow Week 15 recruiting trips?

Ohh...:smash:

Sweet. Crisis averted. We will have a championship matchup between the Pac-10 champion and the best human controlled team in the Big Ten

As for the visits in week 15. I think that week 15 and championship week occur on the same date, and teams with conference championships can't schedule games in week 15. That means no recruiting visits for anyone, because bye week visits are useless.

Dang, I was really hoping USC would win and then have basebuck beating Wood to force a 3 way tie with me for the Pac 10 title.

Oh well... I get to go to the Sun Bowl now... yeah! :roll1:

I don't know what the bowl schedule looks like, but hopefully we will be able to advance to Bowl week 1 by 6 PM EST Thursday. If there are no bowl teams in week 1, I will advance immediately to week 2. I think that week 2 will cover everyone that's left, and I will go to the offseason as soon as everyone is finished.

I will advance to the offseason, and if anyone wants to talk players into staying, then I will take the dynasty offline, make the pitches, and change the sliders back to default all-american, before sending invites back out.

Offseason recruiting:
Promises - I think that making any promises to any recruit is what is causing the glitch for freshman to want to transfer, regardless of whether the promise was made to them, or whether the promise was kept or not. In Piney's dynasty I made no promises to recruits, and after a few sims, I found that I never lost a single recruit from that class. I am still getting transfer requests from the same starters that tried to leave the previous season. My conclusion is that if you make promises to any player during the offseason, then you will have recruits from that class try to leave in the first year. If you talk them out of it once, you will have to talk them out of it for the rest of their careers. The solution seems to be. Don't make promises to any recruit during offseason recruiting. That will ultimately end cycle of kids leaving for no reason, and only leave the ones that put up monster years as thrid year players, or players that are buried on the depth chart.

I'll deal with any scheduling headaches once we get back online.
