My point was that was the impression it made on almost everyone, which made the 'played it right' comment a strange oneMessage board fans weren't really a concern.
That makes more sense, the previous wording seemed like they were trying to avoid the PR hit from linking his firing with the sanctions. I understand that rationale better, even if I don't agree with it.USC knew they would have to take the PR hit anyway, but they decided they didn't want to take it in the leadup to the hearing.
USC's defiance throughout this process didn't help them, and firing an implicated assistant would be at least a small step in the right direction.
