So, Pete Carroll leaving for the NFL before all of this hits... seems to reflect badly on him as a man of integrity, or just a man (not that he had much going for him in that sense anyways)... thoughts?

Nah. He's actually in pretty esteemed company.

I'm not fond of a system that can't do much of anything to affect the people who actually commit violations. It may encourage programs to self-police as they will bear the consequences, but a lot of kids who didn't do anything wrong wind up in the crossfire, which is shameful.

How do we know some of them weren't on the take too?

The USC football program will receive a two-year postseason ban, a reduction in scholarships and a forfeiture of wins from at least the 2004 season when the NCAA releases its sanctions on Thursday, a source told ESPN's Shelley Smith.
The Los Angeles Times reported the NCAA sanctions include the loss of more than 20 scholarships.

Does this mean they have to pay back any bowl revenues earned during the 2004 season?

Some of the shit I'm seeing being posted on WEARESC is mind boggling. Most of them feel nothing truly wrong went on. One poster so much as said USC is being brought down for tossing a few dollars to "some poor family".

Even better is a thread bringing up Clarrett and why tOSU didn't recieve similiar penalties. Just a different spice of life out their on the west coast...

it's not really fair to assume those people would understand things the way us football fans do.

Kinda makes you wonder if those rumors about Santa's non-existence may have been greatly exaggerated...

...and this just in: Golden Boy Carroll certified to be 100% pyrite.

I hear Seantrel's Dad is currently compiling a list of words that rhyme with probation, scholarship reductions and post season ban for his new joint that will be droppin' late this summer.

They told my kid they were #1 in the nation
They said, s'all good, don't worry 'bout probation

Come to SC, where it's all good livin'
Petey was cool, but so is Lane Kiffin

Cardinal and gold will be your new apparel
At practice we have a goof with Will Farrell

Stay in the dorm and wear some gold bling
Or stay at the Medici if that's your thing

That's where Matt's Dad put up Dwayne Jarrett
And where all the ladies came over to bare it

Come to LA where you'll love the fine weather
We can hook you up with two blondes named Heather

The Man can't nail us for any shit with Regge Bush
On the field he even got away with 'The Push'

Sure - they came around trying to dig up some dirt
But all they got was Eddie O rippin' off his shirt

The sanctions won't be bad, we're kept in the loop
Just come to LA, where we party with Snoop

We won' be losing that many football schollies
But all the Song Girls are some really fly dollies

The BCS Title every year is the goal
But if not, we'll still be playin' in a bowl

Don't believe any jive 'bout a postseason ban
Come out here and watch the babes work on their tan

They told my kid they were #1 in the nation
They said, s'all good, don't worry 'bout probation
