NCAA Football Improvements?

I mentioned this in another thread, about something else. Anyway, I had PSone (I may still have it, somewhere) and whichever year it was that both Michigan and Nebraska was on the cover. Must be the '98 or '99 game. It wasn't 2000, I know. Anyway, it was decent, for its time, but what I really liked about it was that you could make your own plays. Why did they take that feature out? Did they think it was too easy to make unstoppable plays? (It was.) I think that with the increased complexity of the game, it'll be harder for those "unstoppable" plays to work with the ludicrous ideas I had.

Atleast since NCAA 2003(The first year I bought NCAA), you haven't been able to create plays.

What year/game are you talking about?

I said I had either '98 or '99. I want to say it was '98, but that doesn't make sense. Nebraska and Michigan were both on the cover. They shared the National Championship in '97. The '98 game should have been out before the '97 season. But it also had Germaine as a senior. That was in '98. So maybe it was the '99 game I had.

Anyway, I know you haven't been able to make plays since '03 or earlier. That's why I was wondering why they took that feature out.

Zurp it was 99 that had it...

NCAA Football 99 also has the full list of standard features, including a practice field and even a play and playbook editor. It's a pretty complete game and one that should satisfy just about any college football fan. --Tasos Kaiafas

That one looks familiar. But I could have sworn that it had a picture of both Michigan and Nebraska. Maybe that was the picture on the actual disk. But it definitely did not have Wuerffel on it, so it must have been '99. And it definitely had the make-your-own-plays feature.

Anyway, I was just thinking that maybe they took the feature out when they wanted to make online capabilities. Maybe it's hard to make new offensive plays work online. Or, like I said, maybe it was too easy to make kick-ass cheeser plays.

If I'm not mistakin. 99 was the year they did 2 different covers since there were 2 national champs. Maybe you got a combined version of the 2. Pure speculation on my part though.

A few things...first it is cool that they have all the different hometowns...but what is the deal with pipelines...all that really matters is same state...also it would be cool if we could assign a player to be his tour guide...also no more 6'5'' 4.16 40 with a 36'' vertical...it is ridiculous...especially because there is no jump ball feature on the game...with a height advantage like that it wont be fair...also i really want a camp option...like in madden where you take a player and can get him better every year and how many points you get depends on how well you preform...something like that would add on tremendously

Agreed, I think it would be cool to have a camp feature like they have in NCAA College Hoops 2k6, where you have camps to scout hs players and you can put them through drills. I liked the idea, and EA should pick it up for their game.

A lot of great ideas. Since I'm a huge fan of recruiting. I'd also like to suggest the idea of throwing up an option to watch the army all american bowl to see how my recruits match up with the rest of the countries. It'd be a possible way of seeing if you got an underrated freak...and enjoyable to watch imo..
