Gameplay

With many teams around the nation participating in spring football it reminds us that the fall season is just around the corner. With that in mind, the development team here at Tiburon is busy at work putting the finishing touches on NCAA Football 13.

This year, we have placed a special emphasis on gameplay. In fact, we have doubled the size of our Core Gameplay team and made the most gameplay changes in the console generation. We started with an area of the game that has become a very popular trend in the college game today: passing.

?Psychic DB?s? ?we?ve all heard that before. Well, in NCAA Football 13 you won?t be seeing them.

Yeah, since you now have to watch for your receiver's icons to light up, make sure your QB isn't still in a canned animation for his dropback or avoidance maneuver, then watch his throwing motion to know when to release the button to get the right trajectory on the ball, you won't even have time to notice what kind of bullshit the CPU is trying to pull on defense.

That's all nice and good... but... animations??? It's all about 'new' animations... how about a real physics engine instead of just triggering annimations.

Plus I will believe the physic DBs and super jumping LBs will be gone when I see it!

If I read that right, you won't be able to pass to the receiver until his icon is lit up correct? I hope that is not the case. If the WR is not looking then have the ball sail right by him, in this years game, if your WR falls down coming out of a cut, you can't throw to him until he has completely recovered back to his route. They should give us the ability to make whatever decision we want, if it's a bad one then we live with the results. Otherwise we will probably see a big uptick in sacks.

This is all true and the first thing I thought of

Yeah, it will be interesting about how that works. At least they say the quick hitting routes will light up immediately. Hopefully that means on the longer developing routes they will error on too early on when they will light up.

Then again I can see them patching that HEAVILY with the first patch.

Regarding more sacks... but we get more 'animations' of QBs breaking free from a sack attempt...

Did anyone else think Ohio State's helmets looked like [Mark May]?

WTF does awareness have to do with a WR looking back at the QB in his route?

Here's how I predict the catch animations will be triggered. Sorry for my nerd speak.
Code:
function catchAnimationPicker()
{
[INDENT]int randomNumber = math.rand(0, 429);

return randomNumber ;
[/INDENT]
}

Wow some of those animations look horrible. The grass doesn't look very good either.
not only do they look horrible but there's about 20 glitchy animations going on simultaneously when they show the pass rush & routes.

No kidding! The pass to the Clemson TE, as soon as he catches the ball, his foot is somehow buried in the turf. :lol:

Poor EA, they're just so good at coming up short.

I've actually considered boycotting EA completely. FIFA has just gotten out of hand. To put it short, since I'm clearly off topic, the matchmaking system is still fatally flawed.
