NCAA Football 12 + Rosters

Could you run the ball at him at all? I usually opt to control DTs and DEs when I play (because I suck at everything else) and it's true that the analog stick moves are much more effective this year. However, when I use those moves I'm committing the player hard in one direction or another which usually leaves a hole to run thru. At that point if somebody starts running on me I either have to back down and keep my guy at home, or guess correctly with the direction of my move. I would think that a variety of runs between the tackles out of passing formations would gash that kind of defense.

Yep, when people start getting through your line by using the analog move, I start running right at them. 4-6 yards, every time.

The 3 man front I faced on passing downs.

When I did run at him he had his DB's crowd the LOS. For some reason I couldn't get the running game going.

Remember how I mentioned earlier about people coming out in the quarter defense and crowding the LOS? Something very similar to that.

I honestly kind of sleep walked through both games. It was rather late last night, I was tired - but not quite enough to sleep.

yep, as i stated in the OD thread, this game just isn't fun for me at all...seriously considering trading it in to amazon to use toward fifa

Yup, I'm thinking of doing the same. Get $33+ for NCAA and then also Halo Reach, could get Fifa for cheap and get a $20 credit for BF3...I'm really thinking about doing this....

An update on my "coach controls" offline dynasty. I started out as a DC with my created Wright State team in the MAC. My defense led the team to two consecutive undefeated seasons, defeating Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl, then Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. No NC game berths (in the second year, Nevada def. TCU for the title, no joke), but finished #2 in the post-bowl polls both times. Strangely, Howard Schnellenberger ended up as Wright State's OC in the first year.

After the first season I turned down a HC job at Army and signed a 3-year extension. After the second season I took the HC job at Washington. I was not offered the DC position at Ohio State in that same offseason - it went to Carl Pelini after Heacock was apparently let go.

I love playing as a DC with just coach controls. Set the gameplan, call the plays and watch them go without controlling any players. You're at the mercy of your own tactics. The games go really fast with the sim offense, too. I was worried that I'd be in a lot of helpless positions under this setup, but I found I was able to influence the game a lot in clutch situations. One drawback however is that your team's offense will steadfastly refuse to do anything to kill the clock - even if you adjust your team's pace in the gameplan. You're up by a touchdown or less with 2 minutes to left, getting one stop is not enough - better make it three.

As a HC, I find the offensive playcalling with coach controls to be much more difficult. In this mode it gives you the press box view rather than the gameplay view, and for me anyway it's a much bigger obstacle to overcome on offense than it is on defense. After one lucky win where I ended up guessing after nothing I called seemed to work, I resigned myself to being a strictly defensive-minded HC. I sim the plays on offense one-by-one, but I take over playcalling in pressure situations or when the clock needs to be managed. It's not what I was hoping for, but in a strange way perhaps it makes it a little more realistic.

Just finished my first season of offline dynasty. It's been a year or two since I've played one entirely through. I usually just ended up doing "Play Now" matchups with friends as I grew bored with my seasons.

The super linebackers do appear to be a problem. I noticed someone mentioned something here, and I tried not to pay it any mind. On the other hand, I've seen a ridiculous number of passes batted down by linebackers that I didn't get in previous seasons. Thinking to a live game enviroment I don't recall many 20 yard pass deflections coming from linebackers sitting 10 yards from the passer, usually deflections of that kind come from defensive lineman that are much closer. It makes it really tough to throw down the middle of the field knowing theres a Superman waiting in a zone halfway between my QB and my receiver.

While passing is more bothersome and I've dipped from 60% rating to 40% on completions, my running game has improved a bit. Blocking may be a bit better, I'm not sure. I'm able to run up the middle, off tackle, and even the occasional pitch. I'm also able to run a bit of option again due to a change in the playbook, which is nice as I haven't been able to run that with ND since '02 and I missed it.

Recruiting is still incredibly detailed, but sometimes I wish it didn't take so *$@% long. I'm not sure if it's a result of downloading the custom roster or not either, but all coaches seem to be at "C" level Coach Loyalty. Doesn't matter if you're Joe Paterno or Lane Kiffin. It improves from season to season it seems, just thought that was odd.

I noticed a strange occurrence with my coach's contract at the end of the season too. I was signed for 3 years, and after winning the NC I was offerred a contract extension. The thing is...my job security went from 100% to 50%. I thought something went wrong, so I reloaded and went through that part of the off-season again. I was offerred another contract for my school, signed again, same result. On top of that my coach was then showing "No previous Head Coaching experience" in his information when viewing the coaching changes for that year. I reloaded a third time and didn't receive any contract extension this time, and my job security remained at 100%.

Herron lost the Heisman on the last week of the season to Case Keenum. Won the Walter Camp and Doak Walker.
Same crap happened to me. At first I thought Case Keenum just had a really good game and somehow outpaced me at the end, but I replayed my last game and had 250+ yards and 4 receiving TD's with Michael Floyd and still lost. I went so far as to take over Houston and throw 5 picks with Case Keenum to see what would happen the week before, he still won the Heisman. I think EA is trying to predict this year's winner

I just started a coach dynasty. I'm the OC for Tulane, recruiting and game play are on heisman difficulty. I'm 0-3 with losses to Tulsa, UAB, and Duke. My defense can't stop shit and apparently I'm either a horrible play caller or the players on my offense all suck.
