That video looked like basura. But here are some words from a guy that was at the community day, basically saying that the video they put out looks way worse than the game actually does.

We're planning on recording a new podcast tonight and we'll probably spend a few minutes on the vid.

Personally, I don't care for it. People do not play the game at this angle, it shows off animations more than gameplay (or even locomotion), and with the "game speed slider" (as it was called/revealed in the most recent dev chat) certain animations will look better than others at different game speeds.

I'm guessing they are playing the game on default difficulty (Varsity), so hopefully that explains some of the oddities like QB accuracy on the move, breaking tackles, spin effectiveness, etc.

Overall though, I don't care for these kind of videos and I can see where it's a buzzkill for some. Personally, I think that will change when more game & gameplay features are announced along with real gameplay footage. At a zoomed in level like this and showing off "big" plays, most games & animations are going to be considered questionable at best.

I just got done playing the computer in the online dynasty, which helped me decide that I'm not getting this game until a couple weeks after release, if it all. fuck this game. it's the same shitty looking product year after year with different names and the same bullshit from the computer.

fuck you, EA

Damn.

Welp, looks like I'll be playing Madden again.

Yup, same animation driven garbage. That was obvious from most of the body interactions.

But why write actual collision code when you can secure a monopoly to protect you from requiring actual improvements?

I don't think we're going to see true physics in an EA football game for a long time.

I'd love to see them take what they're doing with Backbreaker and impliment it into an NCAA or Madden game, but the problem there is that the game would take a LONG time to code...also, a Euphoria physics engine, like what's in Backbreaker or GTAIV would have to be severely tweaked to play "true-to-life" in terms of Earth football. Meaning EA would have to literally release the same game with a new title for a year or two to work on a version that has a complete overhaul of features.

I think that the bottom line is that they have the technology to finally produce the end-all of football games, and if not that, they have the ability to take a large step in the right direction, but then who would buy the new game year after year when it's so easy to just update the rosters?

Small steps are a good sign for EA in my opinion. It says they're at least pretending to try. I probably won't buy this game this year or next, but down the road if the improvements progress it may finally be the end-all of football games.
