NBC Comedy: The Office, Parks & Recreation, 30 Rock, Community

They'll never stop The Simpsons
Have no fears, we've got stories for years, like:
Marge becomes a robot
Maybe Moe gets a cell phone
Has Bart ever owned a bear?
Or how about a crazy wedding?
Where something else happens, a-do-do-do-do-do.

Sorry for the clip show
Have no fears, we've got story for years!

Since the break, we got a clip show, a rerun, and then last nights "episode". Not looking good guys. Hopefully that was just to set up some better story lines down the road.
A lot of shows have been taking random weeks off and extended hiatus' over the holidays. I don't remember this always being the case. What gives?

But yeah, last nights episode was pretty weak. The season got off to a strong start, but frankly, after so much time off, I barely remember any of the storylines.

Am I the only one that finds 'Community' to be much funnier now? 'Modern Family' blows it out of the water...

Community is funny. I agree with THEWOOD, Parks & Recreation is my new favorite of the Thursday night shows. I have seen Modern Family a couple times and I need to make a point to start watching it every week--funny stuff.

Jim and Pam are downright annoying these days, and there isn't any sort of storyline strong enough to hold anyone's interest. I guess the writers were banking on people getting wrapped up in the merger and whether or not the company will survive. Spoiler alert--the company will make it (so there can still be a show). It's been mentioned in this thread a lot, but they need to focus on more ways to involve Kevin, Creed, and Andy (outside of the horrible 'budding romance' scenes).

I did get a kick out of the David Wallace scenes. Far-fetched, sure, but fairly funny.

Community had their best episode yet last night. They've come a long way from the first season (which had its moments, but some weak episodes too).

Parks and Recreation is streaky.

NBC has to be getting slaughtered with 4 straight shows that only appeal to a third of the TV viewers in america.

The Office has gone way downhill. The secretary continues to ruin the show, while great characters like Creed & Kevin get nothing. They already ruined Angela's character by turning her into a bimbo.

Repressed Pam was a far better character. Send her back to secretary, make it Jim's doing if you need tension. She's useless to us and Dunder Mifflin in her current role.

The new merger appears to be another bit of silent tension rather than laughs.

I disagree that the new receptionist ruins the show. She certainly doesn't add anything to it, but I don't think she takes anything away from it.

The show has been going downhill since Pam and Jim got engaged. Since then, there really haven't been any good pranks on Dwight (or anyone else). And getting the promotion didn't help him, either. Maybe they were trying to keep the show from depending so much on Jim. Meh.

Maybe this new company ("Sah-bruh") will give them some new story lines.

I thought Parks and Rec SUCKED for a while - it's getting better. Same with Community. I think I have to stick with The Office for now, though.

Really? What interactions are better, Pam babying/mocking Michael and messing with Dwight, or the receptionist stuck in a never-ending, crazy smile and going along with everything dwight says like a robot?

That is a very substantial loss compared to the hijinx from previous secretaries. Kevin, Pam even Ryan were far more humorous.

She's awkward and not funny. Her version of humor is refusing to accept Pam's candy without asking Michael's permission :so:

Giving her lines over Kevin, Creed, Stanley and even Oscar is criminal. She's a total waste.

This season started off reasonably well (from what I remember), but it took so much time off, I can't even remember if the shows before the holidays were any good. I used to look forward to watching the show, now I just find time for it in the hopes that they'll get back to what made them so good (strong ensemble cast) as opposed to focusing on Jim/Pam and Michael's increasingly boring antics. I even miss Ryan/Kelly's awkwardness. I can't imagine being more apathetic towards a sub plot than the Andy/secretary (I swear to God, I don't even know her name) romance.

I've never been able to get into 'Parks & Rec", but I now genuinely look forward to 'Community'. I had high hopes for it when it started since I've always liked Joel McHale on 'The Soup' and Chevy Chase (given the right material). Started out slow, but I now actually look forward to it. It's now my 2nd favorite show behind 'Modern Family'.

The wife and I love Community. Just finished watching this weeks episode. I just started watching The Office this year and have only seen a handful of older episodes on TBS. Concerning the new secretary I'd hit it.

That's a shame. Seasons 2, 3 were peerless. 4 was pretty good, but started to slip. 1 was good, had classic moments but Michael's character hadn't developed yet. Last season was awful. This year was better than winter 08 - Spring 09, but still a shell of its former self.

If you can, I'd recommend getting them on netflix or another subscription service.
