Navy 46, Notre Dame 44 (final, 3OT)

Meanwhile on the inter-tubes

Navy 46 - ND 44 - It's Over, It's Over, It's Over

It's Over!!!

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- It's over. After 44 years and three overtimes.
Navy finally beat Notre Dame 46-44 in triple overtime on Saturday, ending the Fighting Irish's NCAA-record winning streak against the Midshipmen at 43 games.
"It's a big win for our program. It's a big win for the academy," Navy coach Paul Johnson said. "I'm happy I don't have to answer anything else about the streak every time we play."
Roger Staubach was quarterback for the Midshipmen in 1963 when they beat Notre Dame 35-14. Since then, the Irish have had their way -- that is until Saturday.
Seven times during the streak the Midshipmen had chances to win in the fourth quarter only to be thwarted by bad luck, questionable calls or big plays by the Irish. A few times Saturday it looked as though the win would elude them again. But this time it was the Midshipmen who managed to make the decisive plays.

Only a gifted savant like Weis could make such cataclysmic news.

C'mon did'nt you see the way he and the team went over and stood behind the midshipmen while they sang their little sinking boat song, ala JT and Carmen Ohio

That may be the one thing I can respect him for. His respect for the service academies and those who serve.

I agree with the comments by others that Chuck's ego has taken the beating this year that he truly needed.

Maybe, just maybe, this year will make him a better coach and better person.

While I can respect it, it's no where near an original idea by fat boy.

Gary Patterson at TCU has been doing it for a while now when they've played Air Force.

Well it sure will teach him to be humble, um in my humble opinion .

Trivia question -- in which game did the Irish punt at no time, while losing at home for the first time in 43 years?

This game helps the Irish in their search for an even count against their punting yards total.

Punting Yards - Nil

Total Net Yards - 383

At what point will the ND fans begin to realize that it's going to take more than "another super recruiting class" to save this program?

Charlie is clearly not the answer, but I'm afraid they're stuck with "strategic advantage" for quite a spell. Good.
