Well, lets say some positives:

1. Coleman. Way to step up and be a captain
2. Gibson. Great speed
3. Saine. Looked closer to the old Saine
4. TE's!!!!! We threw the ball with great success to the TE's.
5. Pass protection by the OL. Don't remember them getting beat much man-on-man.
6. NO INJURIES. Thank Jebus!

I was with you until #5. The O-line really needs work.

May just said that Penn State recruits well and develops those players. :slappy:

We all saw the Boise-Oregon game...first game of the season, mistakes will be made. To be honest, Terelle looks to be in great shape for next week, and the recievers looked good. I'd like to see a little more from Boom, but he had some nice runs. The line, regardless of what the idiot May says, played well.

Without a couple big breaks for Navy (The 85 yard pass, Anderson won't give very many plays up...both rushing TD's by the QB were plays we should have/will stop) the Bucks win easily. Lets not forget that USC is the team we have been preparing for since the Fiesta Bowl. With a freshman QB and a lot of newcomers on "D", I'd say the USC game will go quite a bit differently. They aren't running the triple option, and the Bucks got to the QB often today. Barkley will be fresh meat, look out...

Matt Barkley is smiling after watching this game...

Thats fine.

Say what you want about Navy, these guys are A-T-H-L-E-T-E-S

Seriously, these guys PT day in and day out, not just for football, but for their future - to stay in school and to later on protect and serve our country. Football is a now, physically fit is their job for life. They may be 40 pounds lighter than our front five, thats because they are SOLID.

You must be both athletic and smart to attend an academy, and these Midshipmen showed us why. These guys aren't chumps, they are born leaders that showcased it today.

Hats off to the Midshipmen.

:oh:

Some random thoughts.

We looked very average at times in this game. Is Navy better than billed or are we worse than billed? Or is neither question relevant?

I think that Ohio State has been planning for USC. We manhandled Navy after their first drive. The second half started with them pinned at their own goal line.

They executed well in every facet of the game, playing much "bigger" than their physical size would suggest. We grew complacent and some of our players may have started to look ahead to USC.

I thought this game would be close but it was way too close for my liking. Line play worried me. Our defensive secondary made some bad choices. There will be a lot of coaching work this week.

On the other hand, we didn't really open our playbook. There are lots of wrinkles to show next week. USC is coming in with an unexperienced QB. I am less confident in a win next week than I was at halftime but I still think we get one.

The run blocking was hugely disappointing but pass pro seemed solid. Navy had success with their blitzing but I assume that was some combination of the QB not reading it, the RB's missing their block, or an OL not reading it correctly.

But they didn't didn't get shoved back into the QB or abused with a speed rush.

nice points. Also:

7: Pryor looks good throwing the ball.
8: Duron getting some quality pt.
9: DTs made a lot of tackles and were visibly active.
10: rooms for the backs to run for the most part.

And now the negatives:

1. LBers played a quiet game for the most part. Rolle made some plays. Spitler doesn't appear to be a sideline to sideline LBer.

2. Russell is still having some problems being the deep man. DB play was average today.

3. TWash is dropping a lot of balls.

Those are the main ones. I thought the playcalling was fine and the execution was alright for the most part.

I'm on a freaking roll!! Three bans in five minutes!!!

Any other takers?

If I were to start talking about our O-Line development and the coach primarily in charge of progress on that front, you could probably go ahead and ban me. But I think I'll stay away from that topic.

Fellas calm down USC doesnt run the tripple option. we have been preparing for them since they beat us. personally id like to see sabino in theyre rather than spitler. maybe his calf is still hurt but he doesnt have tha much speed and got beat on alot of plays.

A few Big Ten random thoughts.

Ohio State squeaks home against Navy.

Iowa wins by 1 over Northern Iowa.

Minny 3 behind Syracuse with Paulus at QB with 5:00 to play?

Expect a major "Big Ten is weak" shit storm to continue.
