Game Thread Navy 27, at tOSU 31 (Sep 5th, ESPN)

I've got a weird feeling this game is going to be somewhat close well for the point spread anyway. I think we will have control for the entire game and will never be in any real danger of losing but I for see a 35-17 score or something in that range. Hopefully we go out there and hand them their ass on a silver platter. With all due respect to the Navy.

I have a feeling our depth at tailback is going to shop big in this one.. Coach will try to run some clock but I think Navy is going to struggle containing Hall, Berry, or whoever else is running the ball late.. I can see one of the youngsters busting a big one late.. maybe more than one?

Is this game gonna be a national broadcast or just regional? I ask because I'm in Texas right now and would hate to miss the opener.

Edit: Found out what I was looking for...

Just to double check, it's nationally broadcasted, yeah? I think I found it, but I'm not sure.

98% sure it's ESPN

hence ESPN in the thread title

Yeah, ESPN has the game tabbed for ESPN and ESPN360.

I agree with everyone above, the game wont get out of hand. Expect Tress to be very vanilla. I dont see Pryor stepping out of the pocket much, risking injury isn't an option a week before USC.

Also, by the 4th we should start to see some of the youngsters rotating in on the lines (ie. Nathan Williams and Mewhort). Our running backs will put this game away in the second half.

Likely, we will get questioned by the E-SPiN crew on College Football Live the following days because we "looked slow" and didnt blow Navy out of the water (no pun intended) "like we should have". Expect teams like Florida, Texas, and USC to look god-like with excessive scores.

I have a feeling we'll be pulling our hair out after the first quarter thinking "This is OSU, how are these guys running the ball like this" and then we'll adjust and shut it down. We'll win but it'll leave much to be desired IMO. OSU 27 Navy-14

Navy will not shy away from OSU

COLUMBUS ?
This isn?t Youngstown State coming to Ohio Stadium. When the sixth-ranked Buckeyes take the field Saturday afternoon there will be the usual athletic advantage for a season-opening game.

But will power? Determination?

?Navy is a whole other monster,? wide receiver Dan Sanzenbacher said. ?Our defense hasn?t seen anything like their offense, and just the type of people we?re going to be playing. I mean these guys train to protect our country. It?s something bigger than football. They?re coming in ready to fight.?

Ohio State vs. Navy may not be much of a game on the scoreboard. Then again, Brian Rolle isn?t about to take a team full of guys ready to die for their country lightly, either.

?We haven?t played a team like this maybe forever,? Rolle said. ?Those guys protect this country so you know they?re going to be precise in what they do. We have to be on key that day.?

The last time Ohio State played a service academy in the regular season was 1930 when the Buckeyes beat Navy 27-0. The last time OSU played a service academy, however, was 1990 and Air Force stunned the Buckeyes in the Liberty Bowl 23-11.

Head Coach Jim Tressel spent some time this summer overseas visiting U.S. troops stationed in the Middle East. During the most rigorous week of training camp, called ?Hell Week,? Buckeye players had to turn in all their technology.
