High School National High School Football Records-nflhs.com

This record never seems to stop to amaze me.

Consecutive Wins
151-Concord De La Salle, CA (1992-03)

77-Charlotte Independence, NC (2000-04)
72-Hudson, MI (1968-75)
71-Jefferson City, MO (1958-66)

69-Animas, NM (1984-90)
66-Pittsburg St. Mary's Colgan, KS (1999-04)
64-Pittsfield, IL (1966-73)

64-Picayune George Washington Carver, MS (1958-65)
63-Lakeside Blue Ridge, AZ (1994-98)
63-Barton, AR (1985-90)

Anybody know about this Charlotte Independence High School in NC. And if they lost last year, or the record is still going?

I just don't see that 151 game streak being beat by any team, High School, College, or Pro. At the peak of that streak, there was some people that believed that De La Salle was so good, that they could beat some college teams. And they didn't protect it either, they faced an out-of-state opponet almost every year leading up to the game when they lost the streak. The year the streak ended was a "down" year for them to say. After they lost that game, they ended up lossing 3 in a row, almost starting a different kind of streak. I also found it amazing that their HC, has more undefeated seasons at that school, then he has loses. Just fucking amazing.

independence is still undefeated so id imagine the streak is still going on. de la salle has the winning streak record but hate me if you want but they were always viewed as an unbeatable team but in reality IMO they would never pull that kind of streak in ohio high school football. if they went 2 seasons straight undefeated in ohio i would be amazed then.

Seeing how they are a large school(as in boy enrollment, its a all-boys school), they would be put in D1 in Ohio. Meaning they would have to face teams like Glenville and Colerain. So yea they wouldn't be able to do alot what they did in Cali. But, they faced an out-of-state opponet every year. One year they played a team in Pittsburg and a couple times they played a team in Washington(State). They even played a HS team from Haiwaii one year. I was checking out their roster, total from last year, 148 kids on the team total.

Update on that Charlotte Independence High School, they recently on last friday won their 88th consecutive game.

4. Independence (Charlotte, N.C.) – (11-0) *5
Last Game:
Defeated Weddington, 21-6, in the first round of the Class 4AA state playoffs.
Notes: Junior quarterback Darryl McFadden completed 13-of-22 passes for 259 yards and three touchdowns and senior wide receiver Hakeem Nicks caught six passes for 135 yards and a touchdown. Independence, which won its 88th consecutive game, will play Butler in the second round on Nov. 18.

yea i give them credit playing out of state teams but most of them they played were not exactly perenial teams. sure they might have been nationally ranked but that would be like a glenville or St.X pulling that streak and going out and playing #20 somethin nationally ranked. im pretty confident we could beat them predominantly weaker football state teams.

Charlotte Independence

The winning streak continues at 108 and 7 straight 4AA State Titles. The team did have a couple of close calls this year. For the first time the Patriots ran the ball much more than they threw it.
The days of Chris Leak and Joe Cox throwing the ball returns next seaon with a OB that Tommy Knotts likes to have airing the ball out on every down. Big "I"s defense kept the streak alive but is a long way from De La Salles 151 game streak.
There is one difference. Independence holds the record for a public school. Still, the Spartans of Concord hold the all time record and I an Independence fan admit it is going to be awfully difficult to beat.

Byrnes

We beat Byrnes earlier in the year. Actually we've beaten Byrnes 2 years in a row. They were of course exibition games.
I'd like to see Independence travel during the regular season but it is a case of politics here. :oh:

Actually, I heard Byrnes was winning both contests...halves if I remember correctly...until they pulled their first string and Indy came back on them. Rumored to be Bobby Bentley's way of smirking at Indy...

I heard the same thing from my son who received the info from some buddies who were at that time still playing HS football in the Charlotte area. Anyway Indy is not as invincible as they were when Leak was QB or later when Masaquoi (sorry for the spelling and the kid is Georgia's #1 receiver now) were playing. I believe Butler came within a touchdown of Indy this year and they were leading into the 2nd half.

My apology. Byrnes did win the 2006 game. They lost the 2005 and 2004 games. The latter played in Spartanburg was 49-7 and the most points Byrnes had allowed in 52 years.
Independence did spot Byrnes 13 points in the 2005 game which was when both teams pulled the starting players. Indy then won by 2 TDs in the second half. Maybe the Byrnes coach was smirking.
The streak should have come to an end against Vance on September 5, 2006 when the Vance coach opted to go for 2 points and a win rather than a 21-21 tie. The Butler game was only one of several that had Indy down at halftime then roaring back to win.
You are so very correct, they are not invincible. We'll see how they fair in 2007 in the McDonalds Kirk Herbstreit Ohio vs USA Challenge in Cincinnati. Indy accepted the challenge.:oh:

Passing record

This is just mind-boggling

Will Grier is still trying to get his head around passing for a national record 837 yards and 10 touchdowns in his team?s 104-80 win in a North Carolina high-school state playoff game on Friday night.

The Davidson Day High School junior quarterback surpassed the mark of 764 yards passing set by Pacific Palisades (Calif.) QB David Koral in 2000. Davidson Day High advanced to the N.C. Independent Schools? Division II championship game with the win over Harrells Christian
