Okay, so it is Friday afternoon and there is less than two hours until the end of the work week....obviously I'm not about to start any new projects and I'm trying to pass the time.

So, anyone here ever take a Myers-Briggs test for school or work? What do you think of it? I took a class on the subject for my M.A. and give it a lot of credibility. If you don't know your type, here is an on-line test to take:

I've lost track of how many times I've had to take this, and agree that it has merit. Anyway;

What was your type? Sounds as though the results were applied poorly as one profession is too narrow.

My type, the INTJ is said to usually be research scientists and engineers...two topics that I could care less about. Regardless, the description of personality traits fit to me to the letter.

INTJ (however all the other ones I've taken say ENTJ... however it is usually a slight extrovert, not hard core extravert... this one says slight introvert...)

I have absolutely no clue on how they got muscian out of an ISTJ, commonly known as Insepctors. Typical careers for these types are examiners, auditors, accountants, tax attorneys, librarians, dentists, optometrists, legal secretaries, law researchers, high school and college teachers.

ESTJs are commonly known as Supervisors.

Supervisors are squarely on the side of rules and procedures, and they can be quite serious about seeing to it that others toe the mark—or else face the consequences. They do not hesitate to give their stamp of approval, nor do they withhold their directions or suggestions for improvement. Like seasoned, stalwart umpires, Supervisors will set their jaw and make the call on anyone who steps up to bat. Well the bold parts are right on... AKAK can atest to that :wink2:

INTPs and Logic -- One of the tipoffs that a person is an INTP is her obsession with logical correctness. Errors are not often due to poor logic -- apparent faux pas in reasoning are usually a result of overlooking details or of incorrect context.

What about the personal side of things? As an INTJ, this description hits me dead-on when it comes to relationships:



Personal relationships, particularly romantic ones, can be the INTJ's Achilles heel. While they are capable of caring deeply for others (usually a select few), and are willing to spend a great deal of time and effort on a relationship, the knowledge and self-confidence that make them so successful in other areas can suddenly abandon or mislead them in interpersonal situations. This happens in part because many INTJs do not readily grasp the social rituals; for instance, they tend to have little patience and less understanding of such things as small talk and flirtation (which most types consider half the fun of a relationship). To complicate matters, INTJs are usually extremely private people, and can often be naturally impassive as well, which makes them easy to misread and misunderstand. Perhaps the most fundamental problem, however, is that INTJs really want people to make sense. :-) This sometimes results in a peculiar naivete, expecting inexhaustible reasonability and directness.
