Very sorry to hear the news, bkb. Unfortunately those of us who have lost our mothers have some idea what you're going through. There is really nothing anyone can say to make you feel better but I personally would like to extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family.

Hang in there, man.

BKB,
Reading your post makes me want to call my mom and tell her I love her and thank God that I still have her with me. I sure have taken her for granted all these years. I don't know what it is like to lose a parent, and I don't want to find out anytime soon. I'm sorry that you have been given such terrible news.

I know it must have been difficult for you to share this with us, but thanks for doing it anyway. I think we're all better for it.

BKB,

Really sorry to hear of the terrible news bro.

I know we bust each others balls a lot on here but know I'm thinking of you and your mom.

If you don't mind me asking, is it cancer or some other disease?

Well, I decided to post this, though it's a bit out of my charecter to do so.... My mom has a week to live according to the Docs. Sure, it may be 2 weeks, but that's the word.

I guess I thought I had more to say...

I guess not. I'll post this anyway...
:( Sorry to hear that BKB. We'll be praying for you. Not sure what we can say that will cheer you up, but know that we're trying hard to formulate something.

Yeah, she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in 2001. The week of the Terrorist attacks, she had a heart attack (recovering from the hysterectomy) Chemo... got better... got worse... chemo.... never got better, but stayed abotu the same... declined.... diagnosed with Acute Myloid Luekemia about 6 weeks ago. Nothing they can do about it.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in... at the risk of sounding cheesy, you guys are great.

I wish you and your mother well.

I haven't said anything, but my dad was diagnosed with testicular cancer last week. They just took out one of his boys yesterday so we are hoping he will be ok. Until I found out about this on Friday I never even considered losing a parent, I mean he's only 55 and in better shape than I am. I still have all of my grandparents so the thought that my dad might die hit me pretty hard. If any of you are offering up prayers I'd appreciate it if you'd throw my dad in there.

I'll put him on my list. I hope all goes well with his recovery. If you ever get to where you have "cancer kid" questions, feel free to ask me.

Wow. I'm really sorry to hear that, BKB. I can't imagine being in that situation, so I can't give you any advice or suggestions on what to do. Just be there, I guess, and love her. Even if she's not alert, she'll know..
